*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Screens being scratched is an odd one, they are generally all fairly resistant with a few anomalies such as the Galaxy Nexus (which gets scratched easily by all accounts).

Unless you are especially careless I don't think screen protectors are ever worth it.

The galaxy nexus does not have gorilla glass, it has an Oleophobic coating, which is to resist finger prints and general grease/oily looking marks, not scratches.

Whilst I do agree with you on that last part in some ways....... I think if you get a good screen protector like the martin fields one (expensive though.......) it really isn't an issue and it is worth it, as said you would hate it if you got an inch long scratch in the centre of your lovely X screen now wouldn't you? :p And to just think if only you had put a £15 screen protector on....... :p

You people do know that copper, steel, nickel, iron, gold, silver and aluminium CANNOT scratch "Gorilla" glass because it is lower on the mineral hardness scale. Simple science. Plus, it's marketed as scratch resistant, not scratch proof.

All these videos showing knives, coins and keys trying to scratch toughened glass are just worthless.

Something in your pocket or person has come in contact with your screen which is higher on the scale. It's usually sand, because that's literally in more places than you'd think.

This!

Of course, and if it annoyed me I'd just get a new phone.

If you really properly apply a Martin Fields one they are very good, but I've never used a screen protector to this day and I've yet to scratch a screen. You can always see them and they just detract from the overall effect of the screen.

I don't think it's worth it.

Anyway, I wouldn't ever say that just because the screen is Gorilla Glass that it automatically means you can't smash or scratch it, you can - with relative ease.

Derailing this thread like a boss. I don't really know what my phone feels like without a screen protector. My S II has had one on from the start. Will my mind be blown if and when I take it off?

That depends how fussy you are I suppose. Try it and see!

Depends what one you have........

If it isn't a great one and cost like £1 then yes probably but if you have a half decent one, you shouldn't notice much of a difference.

Depends what you're after..

They could very well be similar, but just think of it this way: the Galaxy S II came out in April last year and it is still one of the best phones anywhere. The S III will be an incremental upgrade over it's predecessor so no doubt it'll be worth waiting for. It's just whether you'll need it as there are plenty of capable phones out already (One X for starters) :p

This one, two came free with my case.

Which means you're paying several hundred pounds extra over the same period for that freedom. ;)

The one thing that annoyed me about the GSMArena review is that it only compared the phone to other Android phones, other than one mention in the sound test. It would be great to see how it compares in various ways to other phones on the market not running Android, you know, for those that aren't single OS obsessed but want a smartphone...:p

The GSMArena battery test is as useful as a chocolate teapot.

The One X has fairly standard battery life but that's good for a 4.7" phone.

Good for a comparision against other phones though, I.E the One S. Doing the same tests will give you an idea how it compares to another phone.
