The main thing that the Sensation wins me over with is the build quality, the GS2 feels a bit like my first toy phone lol.
**** off I'm getting itchy feet as it is lol.Just a shame this toy as you put it destroys the Sensation in every department
Is it difficult to update the OS Robbo? That really puts me off as I'm not that technically minded!Just get the official Samsung case for £8, makes it feel a bit more 'premium'.
Sorry I mean this http://www.knowyourmobile.com/blog/906820/samsung_galaxy_s2_receives_another_update.htmlWhat do you mean update the OS? Edit things so it isn't as ugly?
Or update the software version?
Both are dead easy.
just installing launcher pro, adw launcher or go launcher will change how it looks, loading roms on is easy peasy and plenty of good guides over at xda.
Ok thanks.Oh, yeah. You just install the Kies software on your computer, plug the phone in and press update
Just a shame this toy as you put it destroys the Sensation in every department
I've been adornment from the start that my next phone will be the HTC Sensation and you two and a shed load of comparison reviews on you tube have swayed me lol. I like HTC's Sense but it won't kill me to use an alternative.
See its all the comments that I see all over like this, its faster in benchmarks etc... bla bla bla. That made me choose the galaxy s2. Yet after nearly 3 weeks I am seriously considering selling for a sensation. The gs2 implementation just feels like an after thought, there is no finesse to it at all.
Don't get me wrong it is a good phone, and I'm sure it is faster than the sensation but for some reason I don't care!
Its up to you in the end I guess I had a Sensation delivered last Wednesday and I messed with it for a few days and now it sits on my desk no even turned on.
Its slower the screen looks terrible, can't play half the media files i throw at it and not as smooth, I use launcher pro normally so the phone looks sweet not a fan of touchwiz so it will never get used by me and Launcher pro pretty much has all the similar widgets as HTC if you want them but there are better alternatives on the market.
I find sense rather boring it really hasn't change from the original Desire , HTC seem to want to sit back and do minor updates to it but there are far better launchers on the market now and they are free.
I never benchmark a phone I take it on how it performs and this is where I notice things the most between the two, the browsing experience is better on the GS2, the video/camera is streets a head everything looks over exposed and it can't take changes in light conditions well on the Sensation, it can be a bright sunny day you pan and part of the footage looks like its pitch black.
If I had a Desire HD I wouldn't upgrade to the Sensation but if I had a Galaxy S I would upgrade to the GS2, but these are my thoughts on the 2 phones but every review you see they always recommend the GS2 over the Sensation something in that.
I am finding the panning and scrolling really slow with Launcher Pro Plus on my GS2. It seems ok at first but then with all the sense widgets on it seems to start to choke after a while.
I dunno, I think once the boot loader is unlocked the devs will turn the Sensation into an even better device. If someone was to say in a month or so that I could put a Sensation ROM onto my GS2 and it would work flawlessly then I may consider keeping it.
Try ADW launcher or go launcher they all work fine but I get no scrolling issues with launcher pro its smooth, maybe its down to the rom you are running on it.
I have tried to like the Sensation but I don't find any reason to want to keep using it I don't know why, I find sense boring as hell the 3D effect when scrolling is a novelty and doesn't add anything, If you have a Desire HD they have already ported it over to this and its smooth even though HTC say it won't run on it properly .
I like how small if feels in the hand its a bit heavier than I like from a phone, I do like the higher resolution, it does feel nicer but that doesn't want me to use it, in all honesty it makes me feel like I have downgraded my phone.
Fair enough, I have tried ADW and its ok, but the lack of sense widgets made me go back to launcher pro. I have not had sense for since I had my HD2 which was well over a year ago and it seems a significant improvement since those days, I don't find it boring, it seems to make boring day to day stuff into something a little more special, standard GS2 is boring to me, most android widgets are just rubbish and leave me feeling deflated.
