***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

Just rung them, she said she was going to send me a voicemail update via text (i was like wtf does that have to do with this!!) - but she insisted it would sort me out.

Got the text, rebooted phone as requested and still the same darn thing!!!. I'e warned them that if I don't get the full speed then I will be looking to return the phone, expect compensation for the inconvenience of transferring my number across, and won't be a t-mobile customer longer! So their choice entirely.....

They ain't got a clue over the phone, i'm sure they think your speaking a different language.

I am outside my return period now so I gotta keep fighting it. Think i'll get there in the end.

lol - Man they really read from a script don't they!!!.

At first she claimed I had to wait 24hours for the 'system to refresh'. I'm not stupid! - I work with Orange on a daily basis and know EXACTLY how things are registered, SIM update can take upto 24hours to come through - once they do - services are updated. I already had the sim update so she was clutching at straws trying to get rid of me.

I insisted on the issue being escalated otherwise I will return my phone, so she probably put me on hold for two minutes (first she was escalating it - TO HERSELF LOL!!!!!) so i insisted on speaking with her supervisor. She claimed they said the same - There is no difference between T-mobile internet and 3rd party supplied internet.

Richardirv - Are you sure we can get higher than 350kbps??? - tbh I've never run speedtest on 3G before (albiet on a 3G card which even that came in at 350kbps when I ran it on our work network about 6 months ago!).

Our conversation ended with her suggesting I try another phone - So I think I'll pop into the T-mobile store tommorow to prove my point ;)

My only doubt is if we can get higher or not?? - Last time I tried a speedtest over HSDPA was using a pcmcia card on a laptop and here in hudds no matter where I went I only got a maximum of 350kbps anyway!

Yep no more than 350. I have tried loads of locations, always the same.

I have been told that 350-384 is basically the fastest 3G can go and thats all T-Mobile lets you have. To get more you need HSDPA.

Not had any calls from them today if nothing happens tomorrow I will be back on the phone or send another complaint.

let us know how it goes dude - I'll report back also - lets get our monies worth!!

I'll ask one of the orange techie guys I've got links with from work to see if he can shed some light aswell - seeing as its all one now (orange/t-mobile) ;)

found this - we might be stuffed unless we can blag it!!:

Am not that bothered tbh - just would be a nice have - I'll pester them tommorow as so far both operatives have denied any sort of cap and say I should be getting full speed ;)

Having a read now, I am bothered, android market is sluggish as hell and I need the speed as I use a slingbox and need to access CCTV camera's. I hope this does get to OFCOM soon!

I've had the same problem as you guys, buying my phone (SGS) from third party store and getting this stupid capped data. Its taken me almost 7 months to get moved to WnW+ after going through hell with T-mobile, Firstly I was told my brand new sim was defective so I had to get a new one. Then I was told they would update my line and this would someone make it better but for some reason the lady removed my internet booster all together and I had a £1000 bill. After I got the bill removed the next lady I spoke to on the phone decided I need 3 internet boosters instead of 1 so I was charged 10£ extra a month.

Finally after all that I spoke to 1 lady who knew exactly what was going on and had a freaking brain, she sorted out all my problems in 1 min without me having to explain anything. She then went on to tell me that the standard WnW is capped to 3G speed which is why my internet was so slow and that I had to be upgrade to WnW+ to get the H speeds. I then went to tell her that I had a android phone and I should be on the android FUP, she told me that this was no longer available. So she offered me a free upgrade to WnW+, and this upgrade would be free even after I upgraded.

So I finally have a decent internet speeds, getting 2mb+ most of the time. But I have noticed most of the times when I start to download anything it will be on H for the first min and then just drop down to 3G no matter how close I am to a cell tower (one is about 50 meters from my aunts house which I tested at).

All in all t-mobile is just ridiculous when it comes to internet speeds and I cant wait to leave them.

They are flippin useless. Lady I spoke to today didn't have a clue and claimed there was nothing wrong. I explained to her why I'm sold a phone which claims 'unlimited internet' yet am restricted and she refused to acknowledge it. First she claimed my phone isn't capable of anything more than 350kbps lol!

I eventually said I was going to return the phone and she said she would speak with technical. It was me who had to mention to her about WnW+ - but she came back and said there was nothing she could do unless I paid extra for the package.

Time to return the phone I guess.... Be careful of T-mobile people

I have given up over the phone now, I am doing my best through complaints online. Still not sorted yet though.

Dude! - I got a result!!!!!!!

I just rung them again as a last attempt before I arranged to return the phone.
Spoke politely with a guy on customer services, explained in a non-techy manner what the issue was and that he was my last resort. He put me on hold whilst speaking with tech support - The first techie told him there was no such thing as a cap on their internet speeds.

I kept referring him to the t-mobile discussions even though tech support denied any sort of 'caps'

I explained nicely that this was my last phonecall to T-mobile before I returned the phone and mentioned 'data profiling' as per the link above to tmobile discussion forums, the customer services rep said he couldn't really do anything without charging me extra for the web n walk package (which is unlimited). I insisted he return to tech support and ask them about data profiling.

Funnily enough I then got tech support on the phone - Now this was one lady who knew what she was on about - Anyway she said she'd already added web n walk for free and asked me which free booster I wanted as it was part of my package. She then rung me back on my home phone, whilst I tested my mobile - Yeeehaaarrr! Got 1.4mbps d/l and 1.0mbps u/l!!. I noticed she sent me a configuration update. It was a different APN - so I'll make a note of it in a sec for you.

Now thats what I call customer service!!! - Got full unlimited net access AND a free booster of unlimited texts :) Well happy.

Unfortunately those settings in my internet APN kill my connection completely. :(

Trying a restart before I restore defaults

Edit; No don't work for me. Thanks for trying!

I just modified the APN, so the original password was still there. Not found another on net but only had a brief look.

I had a similar result, original I was on 25£ contract but it didnt come with my unlimited text as it said it would so I was paying 5£ for text and receiving £5 loyalty discount. After the last lady sorted my internet out and moved me to WnW+ for free she also made my texting free so for no im only paying 20£.
