***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

Is the battery life on the HTC Sensation really as bad as the reviews make out?

I would be using the phone for music and browsing during my daily commute and coming from a Iphone4 which managed this quite nicely.

No more than other smartphones, turning off all the background syncing that sense and other 3rd party apps setup is a problem.
i turn them all off apart from a few i really want and manually sync the rest.

It's not as bad as some reviews make out but it isn't great and the battery reading software (%) appears to be inaccurate at times. It isn't a patch on the iPhone 4.

My girlfriends just got this phone and I have to say it's pretty cool! Only thing that's bugging her is the lock ring. Anyway to change it or get rid of it?

I think I'll trawl through this thread to find out about the phone and things to do with it, were both completely new to Android.

Thanks

Rob

You can use WidgetLocker to get a new lockscreen or No Lock to completely disable it. I don't use a lock screen any more as it saves an extra step when I just want to quickly screen on, check emails and screen off.

Help !!!!!!!!!!

Everytime i answer or make a phone call with my Sensation it defaults to the external loud speaker...:o

How do i change it to use the ear speaker as default ??

I looked through the settings about 10 times and can't see how to change this

Anyone know how to take a picture of the screen (almost like a print screen??)

thanks

Edit: Sorted! Yipeeeeee

Does anyone else get an intermittent fault of the phone getting very warm and draining the battery in an hour? Seems to happen once every two weeks or so?

Factory reset and with no additional apps installed and it still happens?

Thanks,

Andy.

Sounds like something is running in the background and draining the battery..

Go to settings/accounts & sync and see if there any back ground stuff you can disable
and have a look under the battery use to see what using the battery the most..

I've had the bottom left corner getting pretty hot but battery doesn't drain much.

Ditched LeeDroid. Too many "mods" for my liking. Hello BulletProof! Fast smooth, pretty much stock. Finding it smoother than LeeDroid, thats for sure.

EDIT: Just a thought, how easy is it to go back to stock (recovery,S-ON)? I have my stock ROM backed up with nandroid already.

I'm due an upgrade soon so have been looking at the SII and Sensation. I had a play with both side by side at lunchtime and can't really decide between the two. I like Sense but I was impressed by how light the SII is. For those that have moved from the Desire does the Sensation feel like an upgrade?

Just ordered one of these, should be arriving at my door tomorrow :) It was between this and the Galaxy S2 and the Sensation just felt so much nicer in my hand, far superior quality in my opinion. The GS2 was also huge in comparison.

Is it worth rooting? Any recommendations? Never done it before so be gentle :)

Rooted mine a few days ago but haven't stuck a custom ROM yet. Not sure which to use.

Rooting is easy, as long as you're not a complete tech n00b.

I used this guide and followed steps 1 to 4

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300

One thing I forgot to add; when I did step 1, to get S-OFF, I got an error at the end but S-OFF had worked.

Rooted and installed a custom ROM for the first time today. I'm a Linux user at home so I followed the Linux instructions thread over on XDA. Rooting took all of 5 mins and the custom ROM install another 10 mins (I've chosen LeeDroid for now). Not sure of the benefits yet but I've never done this before so thought is give it a go and see what all the fuss was about!

After reading this I thought I'd try BulletProof. Got a nandroid backup of my leedroid rom which I was happy with but don't think I'll go back to it now. This rom is even smoother. Have to see what the battery life is like now and have also noticed that the reception seems to have moved away from HSPA to 3g more, don't know if it actually has or if its somesort of indication glitch as I'm on the same radio.

Can't say I've noticed anything regarding signal. I#m using the same radio also, so it should be the same. Tested my download/upload speeds and it's the same with LeeDroid or Bulletproof.

Battery life has been fine, but I do notice it takes a couple of days before you get true useage stats.

I also like that I can hide the clock! Also switch off the CRT animation and overscroll. I like a dev that gives people the option, rather than just whack what they like in the rom. The Dev has said that if he does anything major, it will be a seperate download.
