**** The Official Huawei Mate 20/Mate 20 Pro Thread ****

I have an LG screen. Everything seems to work pretty well for me so far but I haven't gone specifically looking ye!

I am having the usual new build / launcher fun and games finding your way around android rather than bugs. Other than the magazine lock screen which has stopped!

On 0.122 says no update with Vodafone.

Got a £5 clear case from a highstreet phone shop which seems OK. I did not want to cover up the nice twighlight finish! Will probably have more questions or things to show in the days to come.

I need to upgrade my 6s plus, well out of contract and the battery is bordering on knackered.

Mate 20 pro with 50gb unlimited mins and text for £48 monthly, upfront free.

P20 pro with with 20gb unlimited mins and text for £31 monthly, upfront free.

I'm leaning towards the p20 given its heavily patched now and given the cameras are similar plus the cost difference? I'm presuming the resolution is still decent being just over standard HD.

The p20 is definitely the more polished in terms of software. It’s a good phone, if you don’t mind no stabilisation when recording in 4K.

Have a look at getting one sim free and moving to a sim only deal, could work out cheaper, or get one pre owned.

It's very cheap at £31 monthly with 20GB or £33 monthly with 30GB which I'd probably go for. The second is only £792 total over 2 years. EE direct want £58 monthly for 20GB, £1392 total. My only slight reservation is if the processor/gpu is going to be good enough for 2 years when compared to other flagships, it's a fair way behind. Then again, still makes my 6s look slow as it's around 35-40% faster and even that's ok. I guess it's driving less pixels as well compared to 1440.

Someone please remind me of some of the software issues your seeing, as I don't think I really have any?

Have a read here

One big gripe I had was due to the wide notch there was limited space icons up there, with clock, battery. WiFi calling, alarm, WiFi icon, Bluetooth (and more) there wasn’t any space for any new notifications, felt cramped there and there was no way of selecting which ones you wanted.

So far...

Far to aggressive closing of apps.

Can't copy text of recents cards like on stock.

Edit - Annoying problem for me.. I have set the screen to normal not vivid as I like my colours accurate. But when I use YouTube it ramps up the saturation even on normal mode. I mean WTF. Fools.

A little setting I found, you can lock apps in the task switcher by sliding the card down. So when you close all apps, the ones that are locked will remain. Same as on my oneplus 5.

I ended up returning my Mate 20 pro, far too many bugs and an unfinished product to warrant the price tag for me tbh.

Ended up getting a 2nd hand Pixel 2 XL which is actually in great condition for half the price and will just rock that for another year at least.

Not interested in the 3/3XL as there is nothing in it to warranty double the price.
