*** The Official iOS 16 Thread ***

So I’m now re considering cancelling my 14pro order as iOS16 seems to have given my 12pro a new lease of life. Runs very smooth and I haven’t really had any major bugs as of yet.

But then new camera, dynamic island and new shiny tech makes it hard to look past the 14pro. Plus I’m getting a good trade in price for my 12pro.

My 14pro isn’t meant to get here till first week of October so still have a few days to decide.

iOS 16 was a very smooth update on my 13 Pro Max and it's working flawlessly - I like the new home screens. Need to explore more of the new features.

Downloaded the 16.0.2 this morning and it seems to be running flawlessly on my iPhone 12, obviously it will take a couple of days to figure out if/how battery life has been affected.

Yeah, that's frustrating, I have a wallpaper I've used since iPhone 4 days and it won't let me convert it into a customisable wallpaper. I've only been able to find really low resolution versions of the same image.
I had the same thing, especially with the inability to pinch/resize (as it just reverts back to full screen). What I did was create a image to the exact size of an iPhone wallpaper in Paint3d (see here for anything 12 or earlier https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/01/12/what-are-iphone-wallpaper-dimensions), fill it in with the background colour I wanted and then pasted the original wallpaper in on top of it. I could then resize within the background to make sure I then had an image that would appear "as is" on my phone.

Fiddly as hell, but it worked.

This is more of an annoyance than anything else.

I have a BT account for the wifi hotspot that I connect to every day while working.

The annoyance is every time I leave the building I.e lunch, walk etc and come back in i have to sign in each and every time on the log in page. In ios15 it always connected automatically.

Is there anything I can do?

Another issue I’ve found is when I connect to Bluetooth speaker or my car. It does it as a phone call and I have no control using the buttons on the steering wheel or speakers now. It displays it as a phone call to my number. Very annoying.

This thread turning into my rant thread. Another issue with this stupid update is where the sound plays from.

It keeps playing from the little speaker at the top and not the main and you have to select them on airplay.

How’s everyone configuring their lock screens? Any good widgets to display? I have a couple, a mini weather summary and battery level, both of which I’ll get rid of when something better comes along.

At the moment I just have weather and battery widgets. There isn’t much out there in the way of widgets, 3rd party or Apple ones. Hopefully some better ones will be out soon.

Does anyone have an issue with storage filling up?
I’ve an iPhone 14 pro max 256GB with about 150GB used, however, every day or two the empty space will fill up with ‘System data’. A reboot clears it but it’s annoying. I think I’ve rebooted this phone more than I did my 13 in the year I had it.

Did 16.0.3 break the lock screen weather widget for anyone else? Now instead of seeing my hometown and local weather, I get white bars. But I do wonder if I've activated some privacy thing somewhere which prevents location being shown on the lock screen. I have been messing about a bit.

Make sure you have weather set to always under privacy > location settings.

Yeah, something's definitely screwed with Weather. Even after a fresh install, when I try to delete the pre-filled locations (London or Edinburgh) it immediately crashes back to the home screen.
