*** The Official iOS 16 Thread ***

Fixed! I told you I had messed about with something. Turned out I had disabled "Allow access when locked" for widgets. This was because I had turned control centre access off so you can't put the phone into airplane mode with unlocking and obviously went gung-ho with a few more like Siri (which then stopped my Airpods from working with her). D'OH!

Numpty. I was about to post mines fine after the update.

I’m getting increasingly irritated with the Home controls on the control centre disappearing randomly. Only fixes itself after a few hours, again randomly, or by restarting the phone.

Also, having a small part of the icon being the actual on/off in the app itself and the big empty area of each light being the brightness adjustment is just crap. Huff.

Absolutely buggy on my 2019 iPad Pro. Wish I never upgraded from 15.6.

In my first 30mins I’ve found a heap of issues that a restart isn’t fixing. The keyboard popup covers any text input box for floating apps such as telegram so you can’t see what you’re typing.

I also have this issue opening folders. The top half of the screen isn’t blurred like the mid-lower half.

It’s quite funny on my iPad 6. The formatting of some of the UI elements is all over all the place. The little folders on the Home Screen don’t blur the background properly when opened is one example.

Live activities is such a fantastic addition to the OS. Hopefully more apps take advantage of it. Was using FotMob for the football last night and ran perfectly.

What issues?

Not installed on my pro yet.
I forgot to reply back. This is on a 12.9" iPad Pro 2019 (3rd gen?) model.

1. Literally my first 5mins were spent trying to work out why opening a folder leaves an ugly gap at the top of the screen. Seen a lot of complaints about this one as it was apparently in the previous RC and yet not picked up by 'QA'.

2. Apple Pencil seems to lag in notes like crazy. Thought it was me but I've seen it mentioned a few times on reddit.

3. Opening certain apps results in a black screen animation before the app appears. I haven't used the iPad much since I updated. So far YouTube, Mail, Notes and Reminders do this.

4. Sometimes when I go from Portrait to Landscape, the orientation sticks. It used to happen before mind you but very occasionally. On the first night of upgrading it happened 5 times in an hour.

5. Icons on the dock are shifty...last night I tapped on Mail and File Browser (an app) appeared. I got confused so tapped on Safari and Mail appeared.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the keyboard is odd when it comes to composing text in an app that is set as a floating window ie telegram. The keyboard just covers the text input box so you end up typing blindly. I ran out of time tonight to mess with the device.

I've never ever had issues upgrading iOS so this smacks of a BS update. Does anyone know if I can downgrade?

I've seen a massive decline starting since iOS 14 slowly getting worse over time. The bugs and glitches on the iPad Pro as well as the lack of precision of typing. One that Apple fixed recently on 15.6. There were so many typing errors like you didn't know how to use a keyboard.

I assume you did it over air? Big releases I always do it through iTunes so you can do a backup and you get the full OS image.

I remember iOS 13 feeling really solid, glitch/bug free mostly compared to these recent releases.

*.IPSW files. I'd double check and check again to make sure the signings before restoring.
