*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

I spoke to one guy last night that was ready to get the ipad3 asap. He's very happy with his apple stuff (but then he has the money for it). I wasn't even aware it was coming out quite just yet!

sold ipad 2 32gb for 350 quid now waiting 7th to get 32gb wifi model

hope quad core cpu povwervr mp4 gpu as pa vita and retina display

The 6.0 story was highlighting it would be out by the end of this year, not with the iPad 3 launch.

I should imagine iOS 6 will land when the iPhone 5 lands. Certainly not this week with the iPad 2s, 2HD, 3 or whatever the magical device is to be called!

I don't see the point of the iPad 3, its way too early in the iPad 2's product life cycle. I only got an iPad 2 for Christmas and it does everything I need it to, so for me at least, it's pointless to upgrade, especially just for "retina display"

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the iPad 2's display.

Does anything think they'll do another "S" fail and release an iPad 2S, instead of the iPad 3?

There's nothing 'wrong' with it, but the new one will be significantly better.

Going from the 3GS screen to the iPhone 4 screen was a pretty huge difference, this could well be the same sort of thing.

It won't be a must have upgrade though (like the 4 > 4S), which is good if you can't justify it.

Nothing can compete with the iPad 2 at the moment so Apple could quite comfortably leave it for another year, but you have to keep on top of these things so waiting wouldn't be the best idea for them.

I very much doubt it, but it's possible.

I am looking forward to seeing iOS 6 though, and I guess by refreshing their product range so quickly, loads of people who got iPad 2's for Christmas will ebay them and get an iPad 3 just because it's the "New Apple Product"

I got the 64GB Wifi iPad 2 for £399, love cash back websites

No point getting the 3G version, I just tether my iPad to my phone

I will be passing my 32gb iPad1 to my parents so they can use it for browsing without breaking the OS as they would a windows laptop.

I just can't make up my mind about weather to get a 3G enabled model again or not. I do depend on 3G a great deal when I'm out on company visits at work. Given that my iPhone 4 is presently on o2 I don't have the luxury of free tethering either like those folks on 3 do. Hell I might switch networks to 3 and then just get the Wifi only iPad 3.

Do the Wifi only iPads have GPS? I can't recall.

what are we expecting the stock levels to be like ?
where is the best place to pre-order without issue ? apple site, apple app?

I'm guessing they will be measly again, I'm going to try and get one for first day delivery on apple's site but there's not really much guarantee, the demand will be huge and stock levels low so to further generate more hype.

I noticed this last week, I was trying to decide on a model and took my ipad1 to work. I'm on vodafone sim only and it wouldn't let me tether. A guy at work on vodafone with a HTC desire it tethered with no issues.

So if I switch to 3 I can tether without any issues on a sim only plan?

On the vodafone website it says I have to go on a iphone sim, sod that. I'd rather change provider or buy a 3G one and buy cheap cards.

Android uses a different tethering system that can't be 'stopped' by the networks like the iOS one can.

I'd speak to O2/Vodafone/whoever first and just ask them to enable the tethering, they did it for me, for free.

I will give it a try but looking at vodafones forums they are demanding you move to one of the iphone sim plans. I suppose my contract of £10 a month sim only isn't really worth them giving me something else for free :D

I am thinking of getting one of these for my GF's birthday which is on 2nd April. Will it definitely be released by then? What is my best option to guarantee having it by this date? Go to an apple store? Pre-order online (from apple or another retailer)?
