*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

It's not really different to when the iPhone 4s launched recently. I remember the error message the store was throwing up was trending on twitter.

Don't see what the big fuss is over the ipad 3. If you have an ipad 2 you would be a fool to upgrade.

Is it true that it has a 5mb pix camera? Please even cheap digital cameras have better cameras. Talk about saving current tech for future upgrades lol

They are purely relying on their strong fan base and by the looks of this thread they are right to wack up prices as high as possible because people will buy for the sake of buying the latest version.

Well done Apple, mininum effort, fantasic sales lol

yeah if it wasn't for the display

5mb camera - meh
Retina display - meh
A5X processor - meh

It's all a bit meh

I'll stick with my iPad 2

OK, enjoy

ps: a high resolution is a big deal, coming from someone who's now kinda regretting his unibody MBP purchase, in forgoing buying a higher res version. Whn you use the iPad/MPB etc to create content (Wireframes, prototypes... etc etc), res is so very important to your productivity.

They haven't whacked up prices though

They are the same as the iPad 2 was. Even if you compare to high end Android tablets, they are of a similar price and quite frankly, the specs on the new iPad blows most if not all Android tablets out the water.

The ridiculously good screen? It will be great for text, web browsing, HD video, games etc.

5 megapixel backlit sensory with a half decent lens, it's probably the best camera on a tablet (which isn't saying much, but then it's not supposed to replace a real camera).

Well no, they aren't. It competes very well with the Android tabs currently available, the RRP is also the same as most high end tablets. £399.

What else could they have done, really? It's faster, much better screen, better camera, 4g.

1) It's worth upgrading for the screen alone - I doubt even the monitor in your sig has a higher resolution than 2048x1536

2) Camera quality isn't all about megapixels, surely everybody knows that by now?

3) The prices are exactly the same

Glad I'm not the only one who is disappointed. It's nothing more than an upgrade, there's really no 'wow' factor to it IMO.

I don't think people unimpressed have seen the iphones retina display? What bigger upgrade can there be than doubling the amount of pixels and thus resolution of a device that is 90% screen, what did people want?

Quadrupling, not doubling :)

I'd like to know this as well.

To the people complaining, what did you expect?

Lol dude you have no patience!!

This is only to pre-order the thing!

Trust me I have patience I have to in my line of work :p

However a company worth over 500 BILLION have literally the world waiting to buy the thing, its come as a shock to them surely :p

So you thought they would have had a better system implemented , instead of just wait until people get fed up :o

Just my 2p , I'm no doubt in reality just trying to kill time

I think the screen is good already - I wouldn't consider spending £400 to upgrade to a 'better' screen

8m pixel camera on the iPhone 4S, so why are they drip feeding us a 5 on the iPad 3.... I know I'm cynical, but surely this is a mean upgrade?

And yes, I have a retina enabled iPhone, so I already know what I'm 'missing'!

What exactly were you expecting Apple to announce?

It's a tablet... 90% of the front is screen, and most of the inside is battery. Apart from making it faster, making the screen better and giving it additional connectivity, what can Apple be expected to do?

What would you have added, if you were Apple?

It isn't. The iPad 2 screen looks rubbish when you put it next to an iPhone with retina display.

Your line of work sounds quite specialist? I doubt many people would see the benefit in this..?
