*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

It all depends how much you'd pay for said display, I'll end up making about a £150 loss, which seems a no-brainer for what I use it for.

I think the screen is good already - I wouldn't consider spending £400 to upgrade to a 'better' screen

But you're not spending £400 to upgrade, if you have an iPad 2 you sell it and get about £250-280 for it.

8m pixel camera on the iPhone 4S, so why are they drip feeding us a 5 on the iPad 3.... I know I'm cynical, but surely this is a mean upgrade?

'Cos it's a tablet, who actually uses them to take pics? Also, more megapixels !=better.

Your line of work sounds quite specialist? I doubt many people would see the benefit in this..?

I would as well (photo and video), plenty of people benefit from higher res displays. Which is why 15" laptops mostly having 1366x768 res screens bugs me so much :p

People said the same with the iPhone 3GS screen when the iPhone 4 came out. Now, the 3GS screen is considered to be awful in comparison.

This is a much larger device, so any screen gains are going to be even more impressive and important.

There is a very clear benefit for everyone; if you can afford it.

Another incredibly bizarre post. Well done. :p

Really bizarre posting my opinion of the Ipad3 in the thread titled

"** OFFICIAL ** iPad 3 Thread - iPad 3 to be announced 7 March!!"

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Anyway...

I am not saying that the Ipad3 isnt a nice piece of kit or isn't the best tablet on the market. It is just a bit of a go between upgrade for some real changes.

If I didn't have a Ipad 2 then yes seems good, but to upgrade from ipad2 to ipad3 for some minor changes. No, I don't think so.

Who is going to take advantage of the better screen. Most are oinly going to be using it to surf the interweb lol

Oooo ebay looks great on the Ipad3 I can see so much detail of that ceramic jug I have been watching for the past few days :p

What exactly were you expecting Apple to announce?

It's a tablet... 90% of the front is screen, and most of the inside is battery. Apart from making it faster, making the screen better and giving it additional connectivity, what can Apple be expected to do?

What would you have added, if you were Apple?

You could argue that about the transition from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4. Yet I was blown away by that, it was far more than just an upgrade to the internal components.

The 4 to 4S was dull even though I'll admit I did upgrade.

Apple have done so many amazing things I just expect them to come up with something really special. Things like faster processors etc don't excite me. The retina display will no doubt be fantastic but the iPad 2 hardly had a poor display.

Something like an edgeless or almost edgeless screen is the sort of thing that would blow people away, not extra gigahertz or pixels.

Yes, I think your opinion is bizarre. Wasn't that obvious?

You think the screen difference is negligible? Really?

What would have made you buy one. Go on. I'd love to hear this. So far the people complaining haven't offered a single suggestion.

I'm sorry, I don't buy that. If you have a fully working iPad 2 now, what possible reason would I have to upgrade? The function of the device is no better or worse than mine, tha battery doesn't last longer, I don't have access to any less functions than a 3... It's purely a vanity upgrade, as was the 4 / 4s - another disappointment.

What?

Are people being deliberately 'slow' this evening or something?

So the battery would be an upgrade, but a huge upgrade to the screen isn't?!

The battery is internal as well, just like the CPU and GPU, but they are a vanity upgrade and the battery isn't?

I guess I'm just not one of these people that has to have 720p, 1080i, 1080p, Bluray, 3d..........

I can see it there in 16.7 million colours (no doubt several million more than I'm capable of seeing!)

What about them? You are going to spend another £400 to use your Apps?

Ok I take my hat off to Apple lol

Sarcasm mostly :)

I was just repeating what Apple say in their conferences and the various things Apple fans are saying to justify their upgrade again, just like the 4S.

So you think the screen is pointless as well?

It provides a large benefit to pretty much everything on the device, it is what the device is all about; the screen.

They radically improve the screen, make it industry leading, and people still complain. It's very strange.

It's not quite that simple, there is a very clear difference.

Irrespective of whether you think this update is a good one or not... you'd have to be retarded to buy any other tablet. Galaxy Tab has just taken another brutal beating!

The higher resolution is a game changer imo, 2048x1536 is an astounding res for a 9.7" display, it's going to make surfing the web a completely new experience, the low resolution on tablets has been one of the main reasons why I've never picked one up but I'll be grabbing one of these, at this res I imagine I'll be happy with this device for many years without the need to upgrade.

You do realise a pocket cam is a tiny bit thicker than the iPad?

How would you suggest they fit such a sensor or optics that will focus on such a sensor with something as slim as the iPad.

Moron...

You'll also get much better picture quality from a 5megapixel older Nikon dslr than you will from a 15 megapixel cheap pocket cam...

Edit... Quote didnt work and lost post this was at, lol

Oh ok lol

I hear the Piano App is amazing on the new Ipad3 screen. Like playing a real piano. And don't even get me started on Chess with friends:p

Seriously though, if you don't have an ipad2. Would be a good buy but those of us who have an ipad2. Really? It's just buying for the sake of having the latest version. Vanity in its finest form. I might pitch that to Apple as their new slogan... :D
