Which iPhone 14 will you get?

Finally got round to setting up my iPhone 14pro and I have to say I really like the smoothness of the screen. It took me awhile to get used to just how buttery smooth scrolling is, 120hz is a major game changer for me.

AOD is pretty cool, again I keep looking at my screen to see if it goes off but it doesn’t. I should be used to it due to me having a series 5 watch which uses AOD.

A few people have mentioned how lovely the deep purple is.

Mine switches itself off in a darkened room. It must think it’s in a pocket or something. I can’t tell any difference between the screen on the iPhone vs the iPad mini. I wouldn’t even realise it’s a 120Hz OLED!

I bit the bullet and place a pre-order with Amazon for an iPhone 14 Pro Max, it says "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months." which means they have some on order, but it may take 1-2 months to arrive, that's not to say they won't arrive sooner.

However, the model I want only just changed to "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months." which means it's only just been ordered so it's likely to take a few weeks at least, if not the full 1-2 months.

At least it's better than "Temporarily out of stock." which means they have none on order but are trying to order some in asap.

You can still place pre-orders for "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months." or "Temporarily out of stock." but not for the ones ghosted out which means there's none on order and they're not trying to order any in.

I can keep monitoring my local apple stores stock situation and if the model I want comes into stock there before Amazon have despatched theirs then I can cancel pretty easily.

It seems these days Amazon take payment before despatch as my cards been charged but it's easy to cancel for a refund in 5-7 days as long as it hasn't entered the dispatching stage.

That 5-7 day thing needs to be updated, I nearly always get a refund within a day.

I at 7 days now and still nothing. I refused an item at delivery so this is uncharted waters for me. I don't even know if I'm supposed to contact them or what as the item is still at the Manchester delivery centre from whence it came.

I've been watching the iPhone 14 Pro Max listing on Amazon since launch, and they've never shown as "in stock" just "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months."

So, they've been filling all the pre-orders with stock they've had on order and have had none left to hold "in stock". Mind you I've been watching my local Apple store too and they've never had stock of any of the Pro Max models.

You thought about fixing the screen yourself? If it's an old iPhone screens should be cheap and to replace them is very easy. Even older iPhones (4, 5, 5S) were harder cos you had to go through the back.

I haven't actually. I would probably destroy the iPhone entirely if I tried. :p I have thought about just going to Apple to get it fixed. Although it's £300 for a replacement screen so it's not exactly cheap.

Checked Amazon earlier, they now only have 14 Pro Max Black in 256GB and 512GB on order and no 1TB or 128GB on order. You can still pre-order a 128GB as its temporarily out of stock and they are trying to order some in asap.

So, it looks like the one I ordered the other day has run out of inventory before its even arrived. I should be in line for one of them as I've got an order in whilst they were still available, that's when Amazon were expecting them within 1-2 months but hopefully sooner.

Just checked my bank account and Amazon have refunded me for the iPhone 14 Pro Max I ordered but they haven't cancelled my order. Strange, I didn't mind them taking the money as they'd have to at some point so what difference would it make.

Well, they haven't actually refunded me, it's just the charge has disappeared from my account transactions. There is no refund, maybe they took it by accident.

Or perhaps it was a pending transaction that was never going destined to go through and they'll charge me properly when it's been despatched. Order still in place.

Has anyone had issues with System Data filling up the phone memory?

Mine is currently sitting at 185gb on my 256gb phone! If I restart this will go back to 20gb and then slowly fill up over a couple of days again.

I have reset and restored form the cloud and running the latest update.

Found a thread on Macrumors:

Well, I checked my bank account again this morning and Amazon have charged me for the iPhone I've pre-ordered. The transaction cleared yesterday. So, nothing much has changed they've taken the money and my phone is on order.
