So ended up cancelling my 15PM order - figured I might when ordering but wanted to get in the queue as it were. Sticking with the 13 for another year at least, more I thought about it the more it felt like marginal upgrades for a not so marginal cost

went from iPhone 12 to 15 pro. At first thinking why did I upgrade as look the same of course but definitely feels more powerful. The speaker is miles better too! I like the action button on the side. Whether it’s enough to warrant an upgrade. Not so sure. A year from now let’s see what the 16 offers a new shape I bet but same chip. All in all glad I upgraded

My Trade in pack has just arrived. I will sort this tomorrow and get it sent back.

Is there anything specific i need to be aware of to do or just format the phone and send back? I think i heard something about imessage or icloud?

I do seem to recall there was a video about it somewhere but i am surprised there wasnt a QR code link in the box to it.

I watched the Mac rumours upgrade video on YouTube and it was interesting how they mentioned as an upgrade path the average user, which most of us are will only see a point going from and 11. Also this is the first time in a long while you might be better buying the standard version and saving money for what the pro versions offer. It's weird because my 11 does everything I need it to perfectly fast enough but I keep thinking I need to change it because it's four years old. I've still got the original glass protector on it and have super glued the sides of the spigen case that was coming apart because I was always just about to upgrade :D

That's the thing, we're looking at upgrades totally different from the majority of people, we're on a tech forum for a start so our upgrade paths are skewed against most people.

I'm still on a 13 and honestly fancy the 15 Plus, nothing is really drawing me to the Pro Max, I've not enjoyed the 120hz yet so I don't know what I'm missing out on.

The camera improvements alone seem worthwhile.

Think your jump from the 11 will be enjoyable though.

I honestly think the 15 Plus is THE one to get this time around. For those who are fortunate enough to either not care about 120hz or haven't experienced it yet then it's a solid purchase IMO.

That's the thing, no one can ever tell me what they are doing on their phones that is different from the average user. It's not like you can plug them in via Usb-c and it's a replacement PC in your pocket. Camera upgrades I get and the marginal gains, also the practicality of having a semi capable camera in your pocket but everything else, what are you doing with it? My iPhone 11 is no slower surfing safari than my iPad Pro. Are we going to pretend we are gaming on them, other than match 3 type time wasters while waiting in a queue? :D

thats the thing tho isn't it.. my 13 pro was absolutely fine but I simply like shiny toys so got a 15 pro.

was it a big upgrade? absolutely not. Incremental at best, to a point where I think I may keep this for 3-4 years, unless apple really brings something crazy out.

I personally thing 13 pros hit the spot with everything, battery life, performance etc.

If they don't move my Oct 2nd onwards delivery forward by this Friday then I am cancelling too and keeping my 12 Pro Max. I'm still pretty annoyed that they completely botched the preorder at 1pm. Looks like a minimal upgrade anyway. I also do not get the "120hz you won't look back" nonsense. I go from using my 120hz iPad M2 Pro every day to my iPhone and it's really not a big deal.

Yeah I've had a 13 Pro Max, 14 Pro Max and now 15 Pro Max so I've been used to 120Hz for years but I still use an older iPhone XR as my work phone too. Yes I can notice the difference but it hardly renders a 60Hz device unusable. It's a nice to have but it's not a game changer.

Same.

I used my grans 8 yesterday and that’s the first time I’ve really noticed a difference.

This was the same update I was looking at, but the more I read about the 15 Pro, the more I'm likely to wait until the 16...
That said, I will be passing through airports a few times before the end of the year so its likely that I might end up accidentally upgrading at some point before the end of the year...

Agree with this. So much so, that I've actively turned 120Hz off on my Android phone - 60Hz is fine and I'd rather have the extra battery life.

That's interesting, can you turn it off on the iPad Pro? I hate it, My M iPad Pro is nowhere near as goods on the battery as my old 10.5 pro that my son uses. Even brand new it got no where near that 5+ year old iPad. I much prefer non pro motion screens.

Yep you can. I've left it on my iPad Pro as it's mostly at home. Turn ProMotion off as follows:

Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Limit Frame Rate
