Another thing to with batteries - the EU will require all phones sold from 2027 to have user easily replaceable batteries

Didn’t know that. That’s another plus point the only issue I can see with that is for waterproof. That’s going to be tough.

I read some place that Toyota are looking at putting/developing solid state batteries for their full EV and that’s why they haven’t released a full EV yet.

From the stats they look super promising basically what grim has said about the ones coming from Australia. I’m thinking they’re the same. Meant to be released in 2027

Although I did read as well that the UK government and Toyota are working together on a new hydrogen hilux (which hopefully will be awesome) so who knows which way the market will go.

Doesn't anyone else feel like they're getting less hyped on mobile phones / upgrading to every new version and more hyped on gaming handhelds? Perhaps when phones have insane GPU power in might be different.

The requirement is that the phones must only require commercially available tools for battery replacement, or if they do need specialised tools then the tools must be included in the package. People (including media) have wrongly assumed this regulation means people will be able to pop the back cover out and replace the battery just like that. Nope.

Apart from some of the screws that Apple uses, everything else in iPhones already satisfy the proposed regulations.

I can’t wait to ditch my 14 pro for a 15 pro max, I need that extra battery life back that the max offers.

Honestly, although it means carrying another thing. One of these Anker MagSafe power banks are amazing.

Easily keep the two of them in your pocket. I tend to use it at the weekend if I’m going out and about where i know I’ll have little to no battery left without it.

Not a bad idea actually, I have a quick charge port in my car and always have a charger with me at work, it just seems like I’m charging more than usual lately.

I could take my 13 Pro max off charge at 5am and it would still be in the 30-40% range at the end of the day, now the 14 pro needs charging through the day otherwise it’ll be dead before I get home, my usage hasn’t changed either, same apps etc and same exposure.

Wonder how much they can make noticeable improvements vs the iphone 14 pro.

I personally struggle to notice any differences in speed year on year. Also don't expect the camera to be much of an improvement either given that the 14 pro was a fairly large step up vs the 13 pro.

As if by magic just before the new models come out…

My iPhone 13 pro is down to 91% max capacity, and since the advent of iOS 16, I've noticed a substantial drop in battery life. When I first got the phone I'd unplug at 7am, use all day, plug in to charge at the end of the day and have ~50-60% of life to play with.

Now most of the time, by 8pm I'm down to 10-15%.

I mean, it’s pretty much accepted as normal Apple behaviour is it not, that there’s an update a few months before the new models come out that’ll cripple either your performance or battery life, right?

I'm still at 99% on my 13 Pro Max. I'll look at the MagSafe battery packs, though. One of them could be useful.

This is my anker one, it’s half the price of the apple one but has a bigger capacity.

phones are currently essentially just appliances that everyone has. Its like buying the latest fridge or a washing machine.

Sure there's new tech that comes out with it and more stuff you can do, but at this point just not that exciting as its essentially the same thing every year now
