Are you getting an iPhone 15?

It looks like the screen protector makers still need more time to actually get their products to fit properly this time round as all the stuff rushed to release either provides insufficient coverage and rainbowing at the edges or is edge to edge but the black borders cover up the extremities of the screen. I’ve had a mixed experience going protector-less and not over the years but find with the newer devices that protectors make the case lips less noticable and I’m not a fan of folio cases or sleeves since I just want to pull the phone out of my pocket and look at it, not go through an unboxing process every time I take it out.
I have a Spigen Glas.tr on my 15 pm and it fits perfectly, using it with a Rinke case.

What is the general consensus on AOD?

The battery life is blowing me away at the moment with it being turned off. When I first got the phone it kept catching my eye on my desk and making me think I had a message or something so disabled it. I don’t really see the point if I’m being honest, I’ve never had it enabled on my Ultra either.

Ordered a Blue 15 PM today, should be here tomorrow. I've only had black phones before so I'm kinda worried about the color. No Black 15 PM in stock unfortunately :(

It will be replacing a regular iPhone 12. Also kinda worried about the transition from 6.1 to 6.7 inches :(

Don’t be. I regret getting the natural titanium one, looks really bland. Would much rather have blue or black.

If you don’t like the colour, just what a case on it.

As for 6.1 vs 6.7, I’ll be honest, I used to be a big phone user and I ditched them and went back to the regular and I’m very happy with the decision (on my second since going back). The bigger phones are just impractical and offer nothing for me over their smaller cousins (IMO of course).

If apple did a Z-flip style phone, id probably get that.

That said, if you need glasses, the plus phones are good as you can increase the font size without it having a big impact on the usability of the phone, I’ve got a couple of older family members that do this.

Main reason I ever went for the large phones (starting with 6 Plus) was battery life. I’ve always had Plus/Max since then except for iPhone 12 where I went with the regular Pro.

I did prefer the feel of the non-Max but I really missed that extra screen res when reading web pages - a lot less page fit on screen and battery life was terrible (but that was an iPhone 12 problem more than specifically the non-Pro’s fault that time).

Since then I’ve kept with the Max each time. I guess it’s just down to what you’re used to but for me battery is key.

With the latest iOS update 17.0.3 I’m getting exceptional battery life, more or less 13 pro max battery life now, really impressive stuff.

Well, I’ve almost instantly regretted my decision to go without a screen protector.

I’ve had the phone less than a week and I now have a 3mm long scratch right next to where the date is displayed under the notch.

It’s deep enough to catch a fingernail and it’s visible against any dark-ish screen.

As per my previous post, I try and take care of my stuff, I don’t put the phone in a pocket with anything else. I have no idea where this scratch came from, it’s not like I’ve dropped it or anything.

So I go back to what I was saying before — anyone who says modern screens are pretty scratch resistant, or that you don’t need a screen protector, either has a very different tolerance to scratches to me, must absolutely baby their phone, or I’ve been very unlucky.

And my opinion of “ceramic shield”, “Gorilla glass”, etc. hasn’t changed — it’s all marketing BS.
Like yourself I take extra caution with my phone it’s inevitable you’ll find yourself in a situation on the off occasion it’ll scratch.

I got one on my SP and have been extra cautious with the phone:

A good quality SP and you won’t even realize it’s on the phone and gives you peace of mind.

Torras SP is the best one out there right now that doesn’t rainbow at the edges or cover up the extremities of the screen.

Nightmare trying to get ahold of iPhone 15 pro from Apple Store hear me

checked store multiple times yesterday one popped up for today collection, by time I finished filling out my details, it was unavailable ha.

Don’t fancy waiting several weeks and want to do the 0% financing. But at this rate might have to just opt for delivery

My wife’s Ip13 is due for an upgrade, she’s on EE and pays £60 per month, we have Virgin BB at home so thinking O2 might be an option for the Volt offers, she’s got 100gb per month but never gets anywhere near that usage with being on wifi most of the time, when I mentioned moving away from EE she is concerned about coverage, im on a work Vodafone line, I know coverage changes from location to location but her wanting to stay with EE makes it hard to suggest options, we also have Sky Stream so more discount offers there, Just looking for some direction I guess …

Moving from EE to O2 was a terrible decision for me. O2 is so utterly terrible around Gloucester and Cheltenham I've had to put in my work Vodafone SIM and use that for data.

SIM only is the most sensible option possible these days, as you aren't tied in and the prices for data are only going down. It gives you the opportunity to change network every 30 days if you are not getting what you desire from the current one, and you aren't tied in to ridiculous RPI increases.

I personally use Three & EE, and I am lucky that Three coverage where I am is better than any other network for both coverage and overall speed (by quite a margin) but this isn't true everywhere, hence having an EE backup. You could look at Lyca, but CS in non-existent and they were hacked recently I believe - 1p mobile also are an EE MVNO, they do £10 for 25GB, and often have offers on.

EE is good, but the cost of it is ridiculous. I don't think I'll ever go back to EE from Vodafone unless they did something drastic with their prices.

To get the same plan as Vodafone equivalent for 15PM, I'd have to pay £800 down and £56 a month, versus Vodafone at £150 down and £55 a month.

That's why you go SIM only.

You could even stick the phone on a CC and pay however much you want over the 24m (or however long you can get).
