Got my XS Max the other day.
First generation release/refresh where I can barely notice any difference to my old phone... the X.
I'm glad I got the big one this time, even though I find it a little bit too big, I really like the extended battery life over the smaller phone... I was finding my X struggling to manage a full day when I was really busy... so the bump in battery will be appreciated & the larger screen can be useful for certain tasks I like to use my phone for.
Other than those basics I expected, I'm really rather underwhelmed with this release, especially at the price they're asking for it.
With volumes produced and surely the price of the OLED screens reducing since last years release, I'd imagine production costs have reduced, rather than increased... so it seems somewhat price gougey, but then so did the latest Macbook Pro release, so I'm not sure why I contemplated any different.
I don't mind paying a bit extra for some nice improvements, but this one really feels like a let down.
Also, is it just me... or do the edges of the back glass of the XS Max feel less fluid with the frame than it did with the X? If I'm the only one noticing that, perhaps I need to check the feeling of someone elses phone to make sure I don't have a small manufacturing defect in mine.
Oh well, still keeping it as I still prefer it to the competitors phones... just would like to notice more from my change. Usually I notice the speed bumps from new processors and even though I know this one is quicker & in the odd scenario it does feel marginally quicker... it's minimal... but then as I didn't try iOS 12 on my X, perhaps that has something to do with it as newer iOS releases sometimes slow certain phones down a little... maybe they're a bit more resource intensive.
