***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

It's LG who have set the prices for retailers. They've done it in Europe where there isn't the Play Store, even made the phone unavailable in Belguim and Holland according to people on XDA and Android news sites there which one (if I can find the link) said something about LG telling them that it would be competition against the Optimus G that's why it wasn't being sold there.

There's probably some value in being able to hold your phone and take it back instantly if your unhappy or have any faults, £90 is a little excessive maybe but the phone itself is probably worth the price and more.

I can see it selling at that price.

Least you will have one unlike the people who actually ordered one :D

yeah pro's and con's - i will ask them if they price match first :D

Is a week wait worth £90? Plenty of other things you can treat yourself with, if you have some patience.

google statement said coming weeks... no way of knowing for sure if it will be out, i also like the idea of having a shop to return it too, i have lost all faith in the playstore.

this should never have happened, a pre order service would have stopped this whole issue

Limiting orders to 2 or something would have helped as well. It's just very odd, especially with the Nexus 10 being 'sold out' as well, I find it all a little strange.

That is probably the biggest mistake, I bet lots of ebay sellers and small retailers ordered 10 at a time. Should have been limited to one Nexus 4 order per person I think.

yep for sure, they should have taken order as soon as it was on the site on a first come first served basis and 1 per account until early demand is met.

I went around the phone shops today to get prices. Carphone warehouse are selling it for £380 PAYG and o2 for £410. Those are both 16gb models. I'm definitely waiting longer and ordering online. You can't justify £100 or more,

Does the TV charge your phone over the HDMI>Micro USB adaptor? That sounds convenient and less hassle than MHL. tbh, I don't own one, but the MHL adaptors always looked weird to me as you needed (I think) a USB into it for power and a separate HDMi for video out. Didn't seem convenient to have both a wall usb charger and a HDMI hanging out of your phone.

If HDMI can supply power, why can't some invent a little dongle or small breakout box that hangs from your HDMI and acts as a wireless receiver for Miracast? I could see that being very popular (people like wireless and AppleTV has shown people like streaming/Airplaying content from phone/tablets to TVs).

It's £289 (that £9.99 for delivery isn't optional!!!) Suddenly the gap is only £80. I don't approve of CPW/LG (whoever) getting greedy, but I reckon people would pay (say) £50 premium to go to a shop today and have it in their hand. Not because people are mugs or impatient, but not everyone has time to sit updating a webpage, making sure they are home to sign for delivery etc etc.

If CPW/LG priced it at £339 or £349 at retail stores I think they would sell a fair amount (some probably to people here who missed out today imo)

rp20000

From what I can gather its just the same as MHL but based on displayport rather than HDMI.

...and isn't it £390 for the 8GB version at cpwh?

Both fiddly and old skool now TBH - No wires is the way forward :D

Miracast and Allcast on the S3 is cool!

So is the thermal throttling ever going to get sorted out (by raising the temp threshold in software?) or is it here for good?

There was four Nexus 4's on ebay (uk) yesterday. Look now. I like the way they add 'Sold Out' to the title to make it more appealing ....

gonna go to cpw tomorrow and see what is what. £90 more is taking the mickey, but if i can walk away with one in pocket tomorrow then i might just do something sill :D

Likewise!

I need a phone, sold my iPhone to have the funds and my order was cancelled as the money didn't go into my account on time. It went in 10 minutes after my order was cancelled :(. They were supposed to wait 7 days before cancelling my order...:(

Ah well, the extra £80 premium is fine by me, i just need a phone.

A good tip for those who use chrome as your browser and are still waiting for the Nexus 4, download an extension called "Page Monitor" and set it up to watch this page every 2-5 minutes.

It will basically monitor the page seamlessly in the background for changes and alert you with a sound if anything changes on the page, like if it suddenly becomes available.

I think the Nexus 10 has sold out because a lot have ordered that instead of the N4, probably those who made a test of their basket by putting a N10 in first.

It's worth the lowest price it's available for. Paying £80 more just to have it in your hands a little bit earlier is silly, it's not going to change your life or anything.
