***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

will report back on the audio hacks later

i have found the beats one and the louder hack

i use my phone in the kitchen a lot hooked up to a hifi so will notice the difference in audio output and sound straight away

well chuffed with the pa rom so far

you need to go into the settings first and enable the mod you want to use, you then need to go into the app for that specific mod (the hack install's 3 apps as well as messing with the phone), and then play about in the app to set your preferences.

tbh it is a glorified equaliser, you would have been better off downloading Neutron MP

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neutroncode.mp&hl=en

Neutron is a professional music player with high quality 32/64-bit audio rendering engine which helps to deliver to you the best possible sound quality from the Android device.
Neutron provides the sophisticated UI with advanced controls for music playback. It is not easy or another 'pop' music player, it is developed for the audiophiles and those who really in love with music. Recommended for use with Hi-Fi/High-End audio hardware.

I have recently got a new Nexus 4 (my first proper smart phone). I'm having a bit of trouble with my mobile internet, i'm with giff gaff.

I usually get a 'G' signal indicator which is quite slow. However I sometimes I get 'E' (a bit faster) and 'H' (much better).

Should I be getting a signal '3G'?

Im on Giffgaff but am 99% on wifi, I had to use 3G this morning because works wifi was off but could not connect at all. Tried everything.

Ive had to add new APN and enter settings manually and it fine.

giffagaff forums are a complete mess for helping with settings, people just copy and paste the same rubbish over and over with no regard to your problem, the fact is most people have tried those settings first and they don't work for your specific phone.

if im in the centre of a large town or anywhere in a big city, i usually get 3G at minimum, if im not in a largely populated place, it can be E or slower, which is pointless, some apps refuse to work on edge.

Ahhhh why LG put speaker on the bottom of the phone, why?!?!?!?!?!
I always leave mine face up so i can see the LED notifications and putting it face up mutes the speaker sound like 80% :(
That is the only thing i don't like about the "design".

i purchased one of those cheap flip cases luckily the front cover flips underneath and leaves a nice gap for the speaker

works good when i have my phone at work placed on the desk

I was with O2 for about 20 months and I don't think I ever saw anything close to 4.2Mbps, let alone 42Mbps (even on H+).

This is what i currently get using 3 while sat in office at work :)

lol - you missed the wink out. ;)
Typical OEM values with theoretical peak download speeds.r[

G = General packet radio service (GPRS) 20 kbit/s
E = Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) 60 kbit/s

3G = Third Generation (3G) 3.6-7.2 Mbit/s
H = High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSPA) 14.4 Mbits/s
H+ = Evolved HSDPA (HSPA+) 42+ Mbit/s

4G = Fourth Generation/LTE 100 Mbit/s
You're not right either, speeds* are (currently) up to:

3G = 384Kbps
HSPA = 14.4Mbps
HSPA+ = 21Mbps
DC-HSPA = 42Mbps

*There are actually a bunch of categories, but these are the commonly quoted ones.

14 Mb/s? Show off :p

Both HSPA+ and DC-HSPA will be displayed as 'H+' on the Nexus 4 right?

Actually the N4 doesn't show H+, it shows H for everything above 3G, which is silly. Bit like how the Nexus One and Nexus S used to only ever show 3G, never H. Custom ROMs sort it though.

If you look in the About => Status settings, it will show either HSPA:10 and HSPA+:15 though.

my n4 screen keeps turning on after i restarted the phone yesterday. it goes off, then after say 20 seconds, it'll turn on, do nothing, and then after the time out it'll turn off, then usually stay off but sometimes come back on again.

any suggestions to find the solutoin?

Is it the screen going on and off or is your phone continually restarting itself?

If the latter, the device is bootlooping.

Did you install a custom ROM? If so, did you wipe the dalvik cache beforehand? This is easily wiped in recovery (CWM or TWRP) and is highly recommended before switching ROMs.

Some other good information here

Finally rooted after fannying around. Deep breath.

Now just hope that putting Franco kernel isn't so difficult.
Looking to do the same with mine if its only way to fix the battery usage, would have hoped there be a JB update but not seen anything. Rather get it fixed so that then I can use it rather than the limbo Im in now when I decide which phone to use dependent on whens the next time Ill likely charge it...

Also so many people seem to be just moving to custom ROMs so might aswell get it all unlocked and rooted. Shames theres not a concise thread on what things you can do and what things were installed to do it...

ps3ud0 :cool:
