*** THE OFFICIAL MAX PAYNE 3 THREAD ***

Complete lack of noir-comic style story telling the original had and the graphics are poor because of the usual console porting.
But, i think i will have a bucket load of fun playing it.

I couldnt wait and got it on the 360, and believe me the graphics on the 360 version look great, so even if it is a console port it wont dissapoint, saying that i dont think its a graphics wise necessary game, its all about the action.

I've seen it on 360 and the video above. It looks like a 360 game... Terrible.

This looks much better than I thought it would!

Are steam not doing the deal where you get the first two games anymore? ...or am I making that up? It has been ages since I played them and I don't have the discs.

So it doesn't follow the originals?

£39.99 saved right there...

It does follow the originals. It's not made or written by the same people, but it directly follows the plot, has the same voice actor and has the same gameplay and dark feel. Expect the story to be along the same noirish lines as MP1 and 2.

I was sceptical about this game at first as MP2 is one of my all time favourite games and I didn't like the change of developer and setting. But rockstar have done a fantastic job. Not gonna lie MP3 would probably have been better if developed by remedy, but as it is it's still an amazing game and a worthy sequel and addition to the Max Payne series.

That's reassuring to read, I've tried really hard to stay away from any gameplay videos or anything that would give even a second of the game away, so it's good to know that my current Max Payne 1&2 marathon will serve me well for release day.

I wonder if MP3 will be as moddable as 1&2 were with the release of MaxED, hopefully so, there were some great TC's made from the MAXFX engine.
Although, current market trends kinda kicks that idea into the gutter... remove all chance of user generated content and sell half assed assets at silly prices as DLC.
fingers crossed that Rockstar *TOTALLY* get what Max Payne is all about.

Have you seen the size of the installation...30gb, hope were getting some super hi rez textures For this one :D honestly I can't wait as I love the previous max Payne games. The first mp was the reason for one of my early gpu upgrades, I think I did it with the 2nd game too lol.

30GB?!?!
My SSD is going to be taking a beating... lol

I really cant wait for this.

I've watched quite a bit of gameplay and it looks fantastic.

The script is also excellent so no concerns there.

Will be interesting to see some PC footage as they are yet to show any.

Anyone know if this game is going to be Steamworks or not? Can't find any concrete info.

If it isn't I'm tempted by the Pre-Order offer that includes LA Noire free.

Pre-Purchase Max Payne 3 now and receive a copy of L.A. Noire for free! Already own L.A. Noire? Give the extra copy to a friend!

Offer ends Monday, May 28 at 9pm Pacific Time.

Edit: Looks like the answer is no for anyone else who wondered if they could activate the retail key on Steam: http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/21386698-information-about-the-steam-version-of-max-payne-3

How much?!?!!? Can count my SSD out of that too. Good thing I upgraded my net connection to 100mb.

If I can find my voucher, think I buy it on retail anyway.

It uses Steam achievements but only on Steam bought copies all other copies use RSC + TAGES Solidshield Wrapper as the online DRM with no achv system. I think it also uses the new Rockstar Social Club for MP & does not use Steam servers either (only to download the game to your HD or patch it) more & more publishers are creating their own DRM as they have more control & less piracy as Steamworks is a pretty poor DRM system unless its a Valve game.

Do i need to have played the first two to play the third? or can i just jump right in? I have a rough idea of the storyline.

You don't, but they are both excellent so I'd highly recommend you do regardless.

True enough but I like as many as possible of my games to be on Steam, so for me Steamworks activation through a retail key is the best of both worlds. Unfortunately this game doesn't feature that so I'll purchase it on Steam and get LA Noire free, not a bad sweetener for paying the RRP for once.
