The Official Nexus S Thread

Oh, also, a slight word of warning.

My back cover is scratched to crap, and the bezel has a few dents, so I bought a replacement from the Bay of Fleas. The only bezel and battery cover combo I could find was for the i9023 (version of the phone with the SLCD rather than SAMOLED), but I thought what the hell, same difference right?

Wrong!

It seems like the SLCD version is a tiny bit longer than my one - maybe like 1 or 2mm only, but enough that the battery cover does not fit flush, and is in fact slightly loose! Luckily found this out before taking the phone apart to change the bezel! Other sellers warn that products are i9020 or i9023 specific, so take notice of their warnings!

Where is the cheapest place to buy the phone at the moment?

Also could this NFC be used to clone a work pass to get in through doors?

its due to the fact the slcd has a backlight so needs more room, i found out the same when buying a case for my 9023 which was from a 9020 :o

Glad there's some solid words on ICS for the Nexus S. There's nothing on the galaxy nexus, hardware rise, that I'd consider to be worth an upgrade for my usage.

If its based on the current Android 4.0 release, it depends on when they are able to get the Galaxy Nexus released and widely available world wide.

Google and Samsung seem to have a complete mess of it in America with the Verizon network seemingly holding them by their happy sacks. I think the Galaxy nexus will be widely available in time for Christmas (depending on how quickly Verizon in America). Give it 2 weeks for the android team to have their Crimbo break and another 2 weeks to polish the OS on the Nexus s. My Guess is that Ice cream sandwich will be ready by January 25th on the Nexus S.

Just a heads up. The official update has started to roll out. I have updated by using the update.zip manual method. Will report back!

Yes, confirmation:

Android - Yesterday 21:00 - Public
We're rolling out Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, to GSM/UMTS Nexus S devices over the coming month, starting today. Enjoy the tasty update! Once you get the update, check out some tips and shortcuts for getting started at the Android 4.0 Help Center: http://goo.gl/5C0wM

Slight learning curve to use so far compared to gingerbread. My contacts and apps are still there. I think they have removed some features such as face unlock due to the Nexus S hardware. Feels like a different phone in many ways!

Wouldn't say it was faster though!
