The Official Nexus S Thread

Now I've decided I might as well wait for the dual core's to come out, preferably htc (better materials) although I'll settle for a samsung if it's got 4 front buttons (want 4 due to a second 'launcher' app) and preferably one that can be easily rooted so the community can fill in for the slow manufacturer updates due to their 'improvements' (only really like htc's app switcher) :o

Yeah, I also find the extra buttons on Samsung phones handy (don't own one, but my friend does), but tbh the optical d-pad on the Desires is INFINITELY more useful, especially when editing text!
I'm not sure about HTC using better materials though, sure, the plastic shell on the SGS might look cheap compared to the aluminium unibodies, but I bet it can take a drop better! It'll flex and absorb the impact, with a scuff at worst, whereas the aluminium will dent and damage the tightly-packed innards. Plus, I don't think HTC put Gorilla Glass on their phones. (Don't get me wrong, I went for an HTC in the end, but mostly cause I wanted the keyboard on the DZ!)

It's not just the DHD though, Samsung (don't get me wrong I like samsung) seem to love glossy plastics and this will ALWAYS look cheaper than say the HTC desire which used a more matt finish.

I'm not too worried over an optical pointer etc as the way android is going will mean it's not needed soon enough.

Didn't stoke1863/Reflux buy the Nexus 1 direct from google for £380ish after VAT/Shipping? (Check the ***Nexus One thread***)

The Nexus S costs the same $529. So you'll just have to wait until they eventually chuck it on the Dev store. (+ the £15ish developers fee if you haven't already paid)

yeah hopefully that will be the case

Android phones seem to be going off the boil atm, i can't see anyone in there right mind would sell a desire hd, galaxy s etc to get this it really doesn't offer anything more than the new android.
