Now I've decided I might as well wait for the dual core's to come out, preferably htc (better materials) although I'll settle for a samsung if it's got 4 front buttons (want 4 due to a second 'launcher' app) and preferably one that can be easily rooted so the community can fill in for the slow manufacturer updates due to their 'improvements' (only really like htc's app switcher)
Yeah, I also find the extra buttons on Samsung phones handy (don't own one, but my friend does), but tbh the optical d-pad on the Desires is INFINITELY more useful, especially when editing text!
I'm not sure about HTC using better materials though, sure, the plastic shell on the SGS might look cheap compared to the aluminium unibodies, but I bet it can take a drop better! It'll flex and absorb the impact, with a scuff at worst, whereas the aluminium will dent and damage the tightly-packed innards. Plus, I don't think HTC put Gorilla Glass on their phones. (Don't get me wrong, I went for an HTC in the end, but mostly cause I wanted the keyboard on the DZ!)
