You don't have to, it just means I will have German branded applications / German default settings etc...

Once mine arrives, I'll be doing that. In theory, it should be case renaming the firmware and then performing a refurbish on the handset.

Sounds like you have already chosen the N4, I'd give WP8 and I think you'll be shocked how good it is. :D

Now this is impressive:

Microsoft recently tweeted some stats about developer uptake since the BUILD conference, and overall they're pretty impressive. There have been an average of 1,500 new developer registrations every day since the conference, and more than double the Windows Phone 8 SDK downloads in the first 8 days compared to the 7.1 SDK.

IE homepage was nokia something rather than EE main page.

You'll probably find, that the EE firmware has loads of custom settings and things disabled. So using the default UK firmware will show all the functions. :D

The firmware will be no different from the German. However, it will have some German specific applications and the default locations / language settings will be German. This has been confirmed by a chappy over on the WP Central forms who has received his 920 from ze fatherland.

Interesting. I have a old Orange PAYG sim looming around some where, I wonder if that will work. :p
