Is it my imagination or does the 1080 PCB look a little empty.

or maybe nvidia offers AIBs less margins at the MSRP than usual, but a 100$ leeway to adjudt the prices, marketing PR for the card to be perceived as cheaper.
thats a possibility, and if i am right AIB prices will be closer to founder than the MSRP.

AIB partners will release basic models at the standard MSRP and premium models at the Founder edition prices.

I found two Titan X's decent for ultrawide so am sure 2 1080's each with a bit more omphh will be fine.

Having said that I do wonder what this means for bench markers if AMD decide to still allow 4 way crossfire. May see those chasing high scores pick up AMD regardless of is individual Nvidia card has better performance?

Not looked at it from that point of view. I looked at is as I have a 27” now and wanted around a 30” to 34” widescreen (wasn’t sure what the best size is for my desk). So did http://www.displaywars.com/34-inch-16x9-vs-34-inch-21x9
So you are saying I should be looking at say a 32” widescreen or 40” Ultrawide? Or 30 wide/38 ish ultra. It looks like I didn’t factor in the fov difference.

At what point do screens start getting to big for desk gaming? EDIT: Still finding it hard to find a good upgrade from a UltraSharp U2711.

I jumped from a Dell 27" 1400p to an X34 21.9 ultrawide and thats about as big as I could go for desk gaming. A 40" screen is far too big to be sat 1-2 feet away from it,or is for me anyways

I will just settle all this discussion with a few words....

3440x1440 100hz Gsync is THE best gaming monitor available. 34" 3440x1440 is as close to perfect size vs PPI for a monitor as I can think of. Only exception would be a 4k OLED with 3 x top end cards etc. There is really nothing more to say than that!

No idea, it is entirely down to you what size you want, some prefer smaller screens i.e. 24" and some like 40" monitors

I came from a 23" 16.9 to my current 29" 21.9 monitor. I rather have 29" 21.9 over 27" 16.9

Personally I couldn't go any bigger than 32" 16.9 and 34" 21.9. 34" 21.9 is a bit too wide I think.

My ideal monitor would be 30-32" 21.9.

EDIT:

You could always get a biggish 16.9 display and run a custom 21.9 res.

If that doesn't work, try out CRU

Thanks for giving me something to think about. I like the idea of a custom resolution to get an idea of the FoV. Going to reconsider the 35" Ultra wide due to the FoV. At the moment looking at a 30" widescreen or 35" Ultra.

Thinking I'll wait till Titan version if that's next then, may just TX SLI for BF1 incase it's a system hogg in the mean time. Reckon a single 1080 may struggle with 100hz/fps and BF1, that's all it's about for me now, BF1 will be the 2016 benchmark

If I were you I'd run TX SLI until the 1080TI at least, more than enough till tide you over till then :)

No problem.

Check out my 21.9 thread, it contains more or less everything you need to know about it and comparisons to 16.9.

Be wary of the 35" VA 1080 screens for a couple of reasons though:

1. low PPI (would need to sit pretty far back to not notice the pixels)
2. some problems with motion on certain gradients/colours

TFTcentral and pcmonitors.info are the best for monitor reviews.
