** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

If EVGA release hybrids within the 90 days of my purchase and they are on the trade up scheme, I may take the plunge. However would want a serious improvement in speed, which I doubt I will get.

I got my Ti classy on 19th feb so guess im out. I think the extra few % would not be worth it anyway. Will wait so see what the 1080 ti classy has to offer :)

New video from gamer nexus.

He talks about his 1080 hybrid experiment, voltage, power and temps.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr2MqPcAtnk

Pretty much what i suspected. Higher voltage and Higher power intake i.e 6+8pin required for those high clocks.

He even says AIB's will be $650-700 same as the founders edition, i'm expecting even more expensive for top tier cards. MSI Gaming, G1 etc

hmm... wheres the $599 MSRP then lol :(

That would be those generic cheapo looking blower models with almost no power delivery and made in a shack somewhere :P.

I'm using a Xeon hex core in my studio PC x58 and it runs protools juicey with hundreds of plugins....

Swings and roundabouts...keep 980 ti wait for 1080ti take a hit on 980ti

Sell 980ti spend 150 punting a 1080... Sell 1080 for less loss get 1080ti.

:p

Im with you Decisions decisions :)

For those who like EVGA cards, take a look at this practically confirmed what models we'll be getting,
1080
sc
ftw
classified
hybrid
hydro copper
the question is, what do we get on release day?

Assuming they've been able to re-use some of their coolers possibly classified, ftw, bog standard and superclocked, the superclocked on the 980 ti at least used the reference cooler at launch, and a twin fan version came later.

Hybrid i can see a month or 2 down the line.

How long do you think it will take for these cards to release?

FE is out on the 27th, for example in past releases how long have the custom cards taken?

For example when the 980ti or 980 came out, how long did it take for the MSI or gigabyte etc boards to come out?

I think i remember when the 970 came out the custom cards were available on day 1.

Depends how they have gone about it. I beleive they showcased some cards at computex last year?

I bought 2x MSI 980Ti Gaming 6G's on release day for £575 each (2nd june 2015). I remember waiting until 10pm when they became available.

If i recall there was a good choice of cards on release day 980Ti wise. Someone had a screenshot somewhere like 100 pages back.

I think they may either release them on the 27th with the FE. Or showcase them at computex with almost imminent launch.

That was the case in the past, but nvidia are saying the renamed reference card will be available for the lifetime of the product, instead of just being the initial run

Apparently some systems builders and OEM providers didn't like the fact that a GPU would effectively stop being produced forcing them to buy more expensive non-reference designs. E.g., dell sells computers with a 1080 GPU, they want that same reference card to be available for the lifetime of the GPU at th same price, or lower. Not start selling PCs with a reference GPU and then later switch to a non-reference with different speeds, fans, cooling, size, cost, bios, etc.

So the FE edition should be available for the entire product lifetime.
