Safe from what? If you've pre-ordered you going to pay the initial higher price. And its only going to go down on release.

I got a 970 to put me on until the 1070 arrives... BUT..
Ive got to say, having today off work and living in Bolton, I was tempted to drive over to one of the competitors and pick a 1080 up today because they showed they had the EVGA SC as available to buy, then I saw it was a hoax an not actually available until June 7th.

No way I was ever going to buy a FE card, they will be a depreciation disaster.

The armor cards appear to be the more budget of the range compared to the Twin Frozr. Probably better than the FE cards though.
 
From design difference it looks like the armor fans blow direct onto heatsinks on the chips, the gaming cooling has heatpipes. I might be wrong but visually that's what it looks like.
 
504 quid for evga Gaming ACX 3.0 even do only single 8 pin and basically founders edition under it , i think i just get that exta 100 quid + jsut for clocking not worth it i guess

edit : and can flash it to sc i guess

What's the likely rate of depreciation on the asking price of these new cards?
Are you likely to pay £600+ for a card today that's going to be <£500 in a few months?

I'm guessing there aren't any reviews tearing down the hardware and components comparing FE vs non-FE to justify the extra cash? I know they claim higher quality components with the same GPU on both but it seems like spin.
 
For anyone that ordered the Founders Edition cards, have yours shipped? I think I messed up because even though I put in the free shipping code I think it's defaulted to DPD Mon-Fri shipping on my invoice but the order on the site says "Other" shipping.

Order is still in processing and OCUK shut hours ago, I take it that means no cards tomorrow? :(.

I would wager that some cards will be under £500 within the next 2 months at some suppliers.

I am still getting 'order in process' on mine - says DPD Next day shipping, but no mention of Saturday. Pretty sure I put the promo code in correctly, but no shipping email for me either :(
 
Yeah, much props to OCUK for the amount of orders they must have gotten (Gibbo said around 500 1080s in stock) plus the extra stuff ordered with them it must be a Herculean effort to get it all out same day, especially as orders didn't start until 2pm!

Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope I guess.

Yep same boat here. In process also. Fingers crossed as shipping code was accepted. Hopefully shows tommorow we shall see. Finished building my loop again this evening so all good to go. Shame x99 means I can't do anything without a gpu :(
 
Managed to hold off for now but hope all the buyers have fun and enjoy their new cards as they start getting delivered over the weekend. Remember, we want your opinions of them :D
