** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

Hmmm been using an "own brand" cherry keyboard for years that supposedly had Cherry Black switches - basically identical to the older Filco Majestouch. Was a dream to type on and for gaming - quite hard to bottom out the keys and nice tactile action.

However I've picked up the Ozone Strike and Filco Majestouch NKR, linear both with Blacks and they are nothing like it - great for gaming but nothing like as good for typing and I'm bottoming out the keys a lot. Guess I should pull off one of the keys on the old one and see what switches they actually are.

Bought them as I had in the back of my mind that you could only do keyboard->USB to PS/2 and not the other way around and it was a PS/2 keyboard and my new setup doesn't have PS/2 but since realised you can get PS/2 to USB adapters so might go back to it.

EDIT: Just pulled off one of the keys (on my old keyboard) with the tool that came with the ozone and they appear to be clears :S gonna make it a bit more complicated.

Ah man, was just going to order a Choc Mini, but I am really unsure about the US layout. That small enter key will annoy me I know it.

My old man said he will give me £65, which was the cost of it delivered, but I am now thinking about getting a UK layout fullsize.

I take it the Filco (brown switches), which retails for £120 cannot be bagged cheaper anywhere?

An update, got blank keys :D

Nice, I like the idea of blank keys but when my keyboard is backlit there seems to be less point to it :p

My parcel has been sitting in birmingham DHL since saturday morning now :(

Yeah but they also sell through a couple of other sites - last time I checked direct from their site was slightly cheaper (the one I got was £120 on one famous site but £99 direct from them).

Why are you all avoiding naming sites... it's quite annoying.
