I'm gonna be doing a fair amount of typing (speaking to friends/surfing/shopping etc) but nothing major.
 
I bought a razer black widow last week, and I hate it. Having tried other keyboards with MX blues in the past I was looking forward to it, but I feel very disappointed with it. So I'll be returning it for something else, probably blacks or browns

Try the steelseries 6G, that is a blacks keyboard is really great. I am surprised that you hate the blue's, what is it you dont like?
 
I've been thinking of getting a mechanical keyboard for a while, just ordered a Filco with blue switches as I will be doing a lot of typing, Hope I like it!

The primary difference is the switches, rather than rubber domes that most keyboards use they have a switch which offers a more tactile feel while being much more responsive compared to a standard keyboard. There are different types of switch which suit different purposes.

I still can't quite decide if I want the SteelSeries 6GV2 with the MX Blacks or one with the Browns.

I do a decent amount of typing, but I wouldn't say I type that much. I have reports to do for uni occasionally, but not too much.

I would love to be able to try them both out, but I don't know anyone who owns a mechanical keyboard, or anywhere where I could test them. Might have to order a keyboard with blacks and one with browns, and test them, providing OcUK will take the one I don't want back.

I would say that if you game & have uni work to do then i would go for the browns,the better to get would be the red's but they are hard to find.
 
Whats the real diff between Black Widow Gaming Keyboard and the Ultimate?

Only thing I can spot is the on the fly macro recording.

Is it the same mechanical switches and key LEDs ?

Yeah, might be an idea.

I don't do huge amounts of typing though, I study engineering, so not massive amounts of essays to write thankfully.

I think I will need to test, to see what I prefer. I think a lot of it comes down to personal feel.
