**** The Official OnePlus 6 Thread ****

Ask yourself why you want it, and its only because its the latest model.

The 6 is a better phone in my view, a phone without a notification LED is just stupid.

I too looked at the 6. However, the dimensions are just slightly different e.g. a bit wider, different screen ratio. Add to this the fingerprint scanner under glass is super accurate and amazingly fast, so for me there was no contest - 6T all the way. Never used headphones so was never an issue for me. Better storage options too.

Well interestingly google realised their UI was ugly in places and android 9.x has a lot of touchwiz style to it, I expect the agreement for samsung making their touchwiz like stock android was in return google would change stock android to be more stylish.

The problem is there is no xposed framework for android 9.x, havoc OS 8.x has modded the quick tile icons from android 9.x in to the rom so it still has some 9.x style, but the latest version of havoc OS is deffo nicer than the last 8.x build made. But 9.x has no xposed framework, and xposed does so much for me.

I am leaning towards 8.x with xposed tho as I also discovered google with their annual feature cutting have disabled the ability to use wifi based location tracking in 9.x. Havoc OS 8.x cannot swap the navigation buttons around which is stupid, but I think I can get that functionality back with an app.

How would you get a OP6 new with a warranty now? O2?

Buying direct from oneplus still gives you warranty, the difference is O2 may let you try out the phone and return it whilst oneplus will not.

Oneplus customer service is poor tho, they shipped my phone with just the postcode and country, no street name on it. I ordered it on priority shipping, me and UPS got the phone delivered to me albeit a day late, and oneplus refused to assist or compensate for their cockup.

Amazon currently have the base model Oneplus6 going for £399. Think it's £449 for the 8GB/128GB model variants now with them.

I would go with upgraded storage and ram, the price difference is small as a % and the extra storage I think is deffo useful (remember is no sdcard slot), ram is more debatable but my 4 gig s7 is constantly been squeezed for ram, 6 gig considering that doesnt seem much headroom, so 8 gig I would go with.

Finally moved the sim over, copy and paste of what I posted on XDA.

Havoc v1 (8.x) due to xposed been an absolute necessity for me. The v2 of Havoc OS is defenitly nice tho and if rovo ever comes out of hibernation to do a newer xposed ill switch to it.
I love the OS, as of this moment I only have small niggles, and no showstoppers.

Niggles been
Stuttery scrolling in some apps (doesnt seem down to this rom tho as is generic complaint on oneplus6), I expect I can fix by tuning cpu/gpu governor.
No way to move status bar below notch so I can full have real estate for my ton of status icons.
Poor default gallery app. Found better one on play store already tho.
Zoom for instagram looks like its broken on android 7+, but I still have Xinsta so not all bad.
Titanium backup barely working (same on my s7, I think its an issue with magisk as it prompts to install the ancient supersu).
A/B slot weirdness and also entire internal storage been wiped more than once. I will just be careful in TWRP.

I like the phone a lot.

Real snappy vs my s7 which I think is about to die its so bad now.
Nice speaker
Battery drain so far is pretty good
I like the slider to toggle do not disturb
I used to hate soft buttons years ago but now I much prefer them to physical.
Ambient screen (oh yes)
Double tap to wake/sleep
Tons of internal storage, I used to love sdcards, but I think now they cause too much problems.
Tons of ram, main reason I ditched samsung, I think 6 gig is bare min for a phone now, I picked the 8 gig variant of the oneplus6.
The pie upgraded fast toggle icons came at just the right time, I always hated stock android quick toggle's, and google rehauled them just as I swapped phones.

Confused about how WiFi calling works on this phone. It seems to route calls over WiFi most of the time when I'm at home and I get the appropriate icon, which is fine.

However when i have no mobile signal but I do have WiFi, it won't place calls. It just says "connect to a mobile network" .

This is strange because on my Pixel 2 I can make calls on WiFi only and I've tested it by checking my voicemail whilst underground.

Could it be down to firmware / network support? I'm on EE.

Edit: oddly enough, if I switch to aeroplane mode and switch WiFi on I can still make calls. Just seems like it stops working when going from mobile data to no signal to WiFi .

Suffice to say my main consideration is the camera; have a Moto G6 that naturally as a budget phone isn't all that. To be honest though I'm not in a massive rush to buy, so we'll see

The camera on this phone is great. I suppose it just comes down to if you want to spend a load more money to get a slightly better camera.
