**** The Official OnePlus 6T Thread ****

Don't worry the Maclaran owners will feel the same when they release the OP7 in a few months.

Wish op stuck to yearly releases though

Agreed Mate. They're like Sony who also insist on 6 month release cycles.

Having said that on my daily commute I've seen a fair few people using OP3/OP5 and their T equivalents and the phones are flying through tasks and it's all down to Oxygen OS being so well optimised.

I'd happily stick with this device for a few years as it's more than enough spec wise to keep going. It very much depends on if shiny new gadget syndrome takes hold of me...lol

To be fair the T versions are only normally incremental updates, so it's really a yearly major release cycle for a brand new model.

I'm still on my 3T and apart from a quiet phone speaker and the odd keyboard weirdness it's as good as it was on day one, showing a work colleague who's looking for a phone for £200 just how many apps I have open and how fast it is after 2 years, they're impressed. I'm very tempted by the 6T McLaren edition, but I don't actually need to replace my 3T... :p

How's your battery holding up on the 3T? I had to replace mine recently as it had suddenly taken a bit of a dip and I was getting less than 2 hours SoT and the phone's performance dropped when the battery was low. Now I'm back to 4-5 hours and I really don't see me needing a new phone for at least another year.

I'm getting 3+ hours SoT, the battery is still lasting most of the day - it was 100% at 8am this morning, I've made 30+ mins of calls, 40 mins of Waze GPS, plus plenty of general usage, had to stick it on charge at about 6pm as it was down to 15%. So not terrible but not as good as it was when new, I was seeing 5+ hours of SoT. Still easily manageable though, especially with 'dash' charge. I was at a xmas meal last night so put it on charge after I got home from work when I took a shower for 20 mins or so, back up to 75-80% which was more than enough to last until midnight.

Ordered yesterday first thing and the 6T McLaren was delivered this morning.

Good job OP in getting the device out in such a speedy manner.

OxygenOS 9.0.10

Changelog:
  • System
    • Updated Android security patch to 2018.12
    • Improved Wi-Fi stability for better connectivity
    • Face Unlock improvements
  • Camera
    • Improved Nightscape performance

Those of you who have recieved the 9.0.10 update can now use the McLaren finger print animation.

All you need to do is download an app called "settings database editor" from the play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by4a.setedit22&hl=en_GB

Then open the app and look for the line "op_custom_unlock_animation_style" and change its value to 3.

This will add the McLaren option to the fingerprint animation effect menu.

The phone does not need to be rooted to do this and the McLaren animation is included in the 9.0.10 update but hidden from non McLaren phones.

Just a heads up with an 'interesting' issue I had today.

I connected my Bose bluetooth headphones and started listening to tune in radio while pressing some buttons on the phone and then the audio stopped stopped and someone loud came over the headphones "Emergency, which service do you require". I looked at my phone and it had some weird phone symbol in the notifications and I couldn't hang up after I'd apologised! When I looked in the dialler there wasn't a record of the call on my phone so I was flummoxed until a quick Google. Apparently by default there is a setting which calls the emergency services after you press the power button 5 times in a row, which I'd obviously done while fiddling:

https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/a1l3s7/psa_the_oneplus_6t_automatically_calls_911_if_you/

To turn it off go to Settings > Security and lock screen > Emergency rescue > Emergency call trigger. I've done that now!

What's with all the 'Rog Phone' comparisons? Am I missing something - it seems to be a niche phone in a completely different price bracket and barely available in the UK at all?

That's annoying. I haven't even received 9.0.10 yet!

Download ProtonVPN and connect to a Canadian server. You can get the OTA file to manually install from the OnePlus form as well, just need to drop the .zip on the root of the internal storage.
