**** The Official OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 Pro Thread ****

I think the DXO score which put it above S10+ just created a lot of over expectation with people when it comes to the camera department. Who knows, maybe OP will release that magical software they were using, or maybe we'll all just go back to thinking that DXO metrics are a bit rubbish ;)

Depending on your usage and sim contract I still don't think it's completely unfair to compare it to S10+. Seeing how contract availability for this is rather poor and you'd almost certainly have to buy it outright, with the equivalent sim only on top I wouldn't be paying that much more for the Samsung over a 24 month period.

Of course your mileage in this respect may vary depending what deal you have right now. There's also the whole not being locked into contract vs outright cost argument and personally I'm leaning towards this right now. I'm not making a decision until June anyway though, at which point there'll be plenty of user feedback and updates I'm sure :D

Id sell my Pixel 3 and go for this as ive been a Oneplus fan boy for years however the sliding front camera is a no go for me, i work in a very dusty and dirty environment and i can just imagine it getting grit and dirt stuck in it over time and damaging it or the camera.

Well going by good ol' Jerry's video (around 4m:53s), as expected the seal is on the bottom of the selfie camera module so the phone internals should be safe. Camera module itself though can potentially accumulate dust inside that little cavity (is that what we call it?).

You sound angry, there's really no need.

Frankly I don't much care about the camera (I just want a phone that takes photos) but if OnePlus want to play with the big boys (as they seem to), they need to work on their cameras. They might get away with it this year as they are still cheaper than Samsung and Apple but it's been clear for quite a number of years OnePlus (I assume on orders from OPPO) has been slowly but surely increasing their prices. I suspect they will match Apple and Samsung in a year or two and at that point unless their cameras match they're going to get destroyed.

Their cameras were acceptable when their phones were £400, now they're £600+, that's starting to not be true.

I'm not angry, I just wanted to make a Craig David joke :p

Look how much space is wasted with that selfie camera. Could easily have been brave and not had one at all and fitted a bigger battery and sd card slot.

I picked up one of these from JL yesterday but haven't unboxed it yet as all this talk of the camera not being as good as expected is slightly concerning. I've got an iPhone XS Max and can also get a S10+ for the same money as I paid for the OP7 Pro so not sure which way to go at the moment...

The camera isn't that bad but they didn't help themselves with the Dxo mark stuff. It just built up wayyyy too much hype.

Outdoors it takes decent photos, lower light the quality suffers though.

It can't and shouldn't be expected to go toe to toe with phones that cost more. I know you can pick up s10 for similar money via importing but sod that for warranty purposes.

The camera is decent, just not ground breaking. And IMO what this phone offers compared to the competition (screen, UFC, oneplus update consistency, bloat free OS), it's a no brainer. If photography is really that important get a pixel / compact DSLR.

Wait a few weeks and see how much the updates improve things. I'm not expecting miracles but then again, the camera isn't the disaster people are making out.

does it really need either? 256gb internal storage - how and why do people need more than this? Battery is perfectly fine, no better/worse than any other phone.

So, I had the same dilemma. I currently have the S10 Plus in 512GB black ceramic. I tried to sell it on here ahead of the OP7P release but had no takers.

I’m actually glad now because I did order the OP7P - the S10 is the better phone. It’s is sleeker, lighter and size wise has a better profile - the screen is also brighter and better. Samsung never, ever offer their flagship screens to anyone other than themselves. The wireless charging, official IP and speakers are also better, granted it is more expensive.

The cameras are better and you could argue the OS is better on OP as it’s more Pixel like and has faster updates - some people like the extras with One UI, some don’t.

Music, movies. Easy to fill 256gb.

Sure, but about 3 months worth :) I get it, not everyone always has a reliable 4G stream. For me, there's just no need to store that much info on the actual phone, but I understand for some it's a need.

I certainly wouldn't want to trade a front facing camera for an SD card slot though and I think the majority would be the same.

Some people over at XDA who have the touch problem are sending them back.
I wonder if 1+ has chosen a cheap panel controller?

EDIT=If I turn on NFC and then run cpu-z. I get ghost touches.
But with nfc turned off. All is ok!
