The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

To elaborate on this. In Nvidia control panel you can create a custom res and set scaling to aspect ratio. This allows me to select 2560x1440 75Hz as my desktop resolution as well as in games.

It looks blurry in Windows but with games it looks fine, especially with image sharpening in SweetFX.

The only thing this monitor is lacking is Freesync/Gsync to make it totally perfect. Though having tried Gsync I decided it was not a must have feature.

Is it smooth though?

I remember trying a higher refresh, but it made everything a bit juddery.

Not sure if I only tried at native res or lower though.

I find it smooth if I enable triple buffering and set pre-rendered frames to 1 in the NV control panel. Or leave vsync off and set max fps to 60. I know this sound contrary but setting fps to 60 rather than 75 reduces tearing drastically in my experience. Having said that I still prefer 21:9 or full 4k with some compromises on eye candy.

If it's calibrated, then of course. When you calibrate a monitor, you do so to ensure it's displaying colours accurately.
When I say calibrate I'm talking about doing it properly, with software that has a plug in colouromiter.

Yes I use spyder 3's. Just I am using a Dell 3008WFP right now, and I am wondering how it will fair against that??, thoughts OCUK ?.

The other large screen 4k monitors are of little use to me due to small 1440p vertical res, I am finding 1600p of the Dell the smallest I can go. Also the other 2160 4k's are ~30" give or take.

This is the 1st monitor of interest to me, perfect size for my photo / video editing, but I am just making sure the colours are good.

People are reporting that they are at least comparable to the likes of that monitor. With your Spyder though, you'll get it displaying accurate colours which will allow you to edit your photos very colour accurately.

Baddass's review shows it to have very good colour reproduction too.

There are no "4K" monitors with a vertical res of 1440 either. 4K is 4096*2160, and UHD is 3840*2160.

I had a Dell U3011 that was used for professional graphics work and I would say the colours on the Philips are just as clear in sRGB mode. Though it does use 100% brightness in that mode.

Reviews do show the Philips has excellent colour reproduction.

Oh lawd no, matte coatings make the display look dirty or cloudy/fuzzy (for me at least) when compared to a monitor without a matte coating, colours seem to look nicer too.

I do graphics on monitors without any anti-glare coating, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

They were glass fronted too, but I took the glass out as the glass definitely is way too reflective. A full gloss display (without a glass coating) isn't that reflective when on, especially if you don't have any piercingly bright lights behind you.

Something wrong with your matte monitor then !! lol  The Dell 30" is perfect, I work in my office with bright 'day light' bulb, I need it to stay alert and awake - the dell has ZERO reflection from it and no mirroring.

The two 27" I have either side are v v mildly reflective  if you look you can see the reflection of everything in them..........annoying.

Have been using the 30" Dell for 8 years now and swapping to this, will let you know how I get on.

Good stuff thank you........I just really hope there is no reflection in it, horrific if so !, I am aiming for at least as 'non-reflective' as the Dell.

There's nothing wrong with the matte monitors I have, it's just a side by side, I find monitors with an AG coating to be less sharp and grainy.

It sounds like you have glass fronted monitors to me though, a monitor without an AG coating really shouldn't be reflecting everything in them. My gloss monitors are only reflecting things when they're off.
