The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

There's nothing wrong with the matte monitors I have, it's just a side by side, I find monitors with an AG coating to be less sharp and grainy.

It sounds like you have glass fronted monitors to me though, a monitor without an AG coating really shouldn't be reflecting everything in them. My gloss monitors are only reflecting things when they're off.

Hmmm its this secondary monitor I have:

Sadly I see it as a v 'mild gloss' display, everyone else same ?

Guys I need some advice. Running a 295x2 and it only has DVI and Mini-DP connections, what do I need to run at native res and 60Hz? Will a Mini-DP to Mini-DP cable do the job? No bandwidth restrictions?

thanks

Pre-ordered a XB270HU for the desktop but am looking to get this monitor connected to the same PC for when I wanna sit on the couch. Two questions:
  • Can anyone comment on how this looks from about 7ft away?
  • Will 970 in SLi be able to output video and games through the DP on the second card?
Thanks :)

I don't notice any serious reflections on mine unless it is off. I find the mild gloss coating to look superior than the matte mist effect given off by my Dell U3011.

It'll look better than any 40" TV, and SLi allows you to output from secondary cards, how come you're looking to use the second one though? Do your 970s only have 1 DP output each?

Can a single GTX970 run Elite on this monitor smooth. Or will I need to go Sli. On the fence about buying one.

I'm running Elite on a GTX980 and need to overclock about 10% to get smooth FPS. I have disabled bloom and blur in the Graphics options, but I would always disable them anyway. No other compromises required and FPS drops to a low of around 35 in stations. I can also use 21:9 res to go super widescreen and 3840x1600 res, which smooths FPS to high 40s.

If you need 60 FPS then yes, SLI will be necessary.

Yeah, the coating on this is a nice compromise.

Not too reflective that it's like looking in a mirror, and not heavy enough that it feels like it dulls the image.

Mine has arrived, happy days !

Small thing, the monitor comes with a European "kettle lead" power lead, not a UK one. We had plenty in the office so not an issue, but could be frustrating if you don't.

I haven't managed to get it out of 1920x1200 mode yet either (HDMI)

The screen isn't that reflective, more of a "sheen" than a reflection. Perhaps for those doing graphic design it may not be perfect, but for other applications it's not an issue.

Enjoy! :)

Pretty sure mine came with Uk plug. But if not, I may not have cared enough to take note as I have sooooooo many spare cables lying around.

Don't think you will get more than 1920x1200 over hdmi. I could be wrong and maybe it will allow up to 2560x1440.

Certainly creating a custom resolution should work fine.

I agree, the reflection did not stand out to me in a "bloody hell" kind of way. I can understand why those who do photo work will require no reflection. Hence why I will not commit to say it perfect :)
