The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

I tried my monitor last night with various images including night ones. There is some reflection as the images get darker but for me nothing serious. Of course if you are someone who feels reflections are off-putting then I wold recommend a try before you buy.

(Previous comment on cable, no I wouldn't really return it for that, will expect a UK one from OC though).

I remember! DAMN good screen that, missed it so much I went out a few weeks later and got my HP ZR30w, another great screen

Loving this Philips so far, just 1080p will do my nut in until the Mini-DP cable arrives!! My own fault for buying a 295x2 I suppose :p

Doesn't come with a UK power cable or a USB extension cable for the hub. Petty, but I'll probably RMA it for that.

Yes there is gloss on this, if you're used to matt which I was with the Dell 3007wfp you may not be happy, I don't mind it as the lights I normally have on don't show up the gloss.

Definitely is the way to go for screen real estate and using stock scaling in windows.

Interesting thanks guys ! Sledged could I ask you one last favor, could you turn your lights on to max and open any curtains to let max light into your office then take a clear picture of the screen head on?

One showing the OCUK page, one showing the google page (i.e. mostly white), then one if possible showing mostly black which can be done at this website:

If you could that would be immense! :)

Desk is 150w x 90d x 76h. Old lawyers desk from 1920 I picked up 15 years ago for half the cost of the Phillips. : D

Squirrel, will try for a few shots tomorrow, have been nerding out watching the Windows 10 event and all the awesome it promises.

I can try to get the time for this later this evening.

Um, doesn't everyone here have this problem:

This keeps getting brought up but then ignored about how awesome the monitor is in every other way. The effect is hard to produce in games/movies but it sure is unacceptable for office/general use. I'm really surprised people aren't flipping more out about this. I thought this would be my 4K monitor for the next several years but I'm definitely going to replace it once something similar from a competitor comes out. Not even the tft review caught this. I saw it when playing South Park due to the solid 2D colors the game naturally uses then dug a little further and now my experience with this monitor is completely ruined. Here's a small & ignored thread on the findings of this artifact issue: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1844919

Yeah, I brought this up several pages back, and as you know, has been mentioned on HF.

I am still a bit disappointed with that aspect of it, and am someone who normally returns monitors for any issue, but once my screen is calibrated, it's hard to notice in any kind of real world scenario.

I guess, yeah, a south park game could, because it will have lots of solid blocks of colour.

From what I can gather, they will all suffer this problem. Main time it shows up for me is on web pages.

If it affected games I play majorly, it would bother me, but just don't notice see it happening - and I looked for it in all my games.

u can make it go away by changing the contrast & sharpness. Just put the default values of 100 brightness, 50 contrast, 50 sharpness and you might see it.

Not being funny but if I can't see it using my normal settings then I don't really see the problem...

I'm not going looking too hard for it, I'll never 'unsee' it :D

Thanks guys much appreciated

Well I tried to get some images but my phone camera is doing a poor job. None of the photos look remotely like what I see with my own eyes.

They make it look like light bleeds is excessive when it is barely noticeable. Or it show none, or excessive reflections depending upon its mood.

I will see if my digital camera handles it better.
