The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Its a decent monitor not seeing any inversion artifacts either wonder if those are GPU & or DP cable related. Mine looks perfect apart from slightly less vibrant colour than the IP LG 21:9 its replacing.

Also size wise its only about the same size as a 34" 21:9 for content in that format its overall about 4" wider & 6" taller so the diagonal is much larger but considering the cost & GPU grunt required its not a monitor for everyone unless you have plenty of spare cash to upgrade your system with!(£1k would be a good starting point + the monitor cost  ).

How far do you guys sit from the screen?

I have a 28" 4K monitor now and i sit 2ft from it, i have a feeling this will be too big and give me headaches if i'm too close :/

2ft ;)

Bluray Discs look incredible this screen brings out additional details in the image even if they are only upscaled from 1080 the picture is stunning

Just been watching Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade :D

I find the 4K TVs to be slower for gaming and not really better for anything else (at the same price) which makes them a bit pointless atm imo.

This is my thought because a computer and xbox connected to the monitor would surely make it more 'smart' than any TV. Just don't know if I'm missing something obvious =/

Does this monitor come with HDMI 2.0? That's needed isn't it for 4K support?

Also apparently it uses PWM backlighting which I've heard some people don't like, what's bad about PWM?

Thanks :)

Wildest - PWM, At less than 100% brightness some people's eyes are sensitive enough to make out a slight flickering which increases as the brightness is reduced. The % of people this would effect is fairly small but it can be an issue.

As to HDMI 2.0, this monitor uses Display Port (DP) 1.2 to provide a 60Hz 4K image where as the HDMI and DP 1.1 (which are also fitted) only provide 30Hz 4K which, from what people on here have said, is very poor for gaming.

Thanks mate for the response that's really helpful. I think I will have to have a look at PWM in a bit more detail then. Don't want to get a monitor with it if it happens to affect me as well!

With regards to the DP 1.2 is there only 1 port of this type? Ideally I would like to connect both my xbox and PC @ 4K 60HZ (not sure if there is even a benefit to doing this).

Thanks again :)

theres no benefit to connecting an xbox at 4k 60hz, the thing cant push games at anything more than 1080p at 30hz as far as im aware, so save the displayport for your PC and stick the xbox into an hdmi port for upscaled 1080 @ 30

min DP, normal DP and 2 HDMI....

tbh it's a good monitor for gaming, it just as a slight ghosting. i don't notice any input lag.

you could use a HDMI for xbox and DP for PC
