The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

finally caved and ordered one last night, been umming and arring for a while on this vs a 4k telly to game on
hopefully a bit of an upgrade from my cheap old 24" samsung TN panel!

Runs Witcher 3 @ 1440p beautifully. I'd agree with YB2ndBEST that scaling is excellent to this res, whereas gaming at 1080p is too blocky.

The best res is native 4k though ;)

Thanks for doing that - Finally had time to have a look tonight!

The gain settings are quite different on mine. Not sure if they cam like that or if I fiddled....

May just be down to calibration from factory,
my home one is r 5316 g 5340 b 5426

This is quite different to my work one.

How easy is it to run at custom resolutions? I would like to run it at ultrawide 21:9 with the option of trying 4k.

There are a couple people in here running custom 21:9 resolutions. Should be pretty easy with CRU.

One thing about 4k is I've never stared at grass in games so much. In GTAV I never realized the flat looking grass was actually all separate little bunches!!! I can see the individual grass pieces, on my old 1440 27" it just looked like one long texture hahaha

Problem is... Why are they B grade

Well i know what you mean, they may have been sent back due to backlight issues or other problems although backlight unlikely with these screens.

Or sometimes they are just bashed boxes.

Both my last two screens have been B stock. One was missing a remote but otherwise than that brand new and perfect and another forum member sent me their remote they didnt want :)

The other one had clearly been a return but was perfect, no dead/stuck pixels or backlight bleed but missing the manual and leads.

Hoever both were at least a third off new price.

At the end of the day, if there is a problem just either sen it back under DSR (or whatever they are calling it now) or use mANUFACTURERS warranty to get it fixed.

So yeah it's a gamble but not a massively risky one. Over the last two monitors I have saved over £400 so if I lose £20 shipping costs on this one, I dont mind.

I might give one of those b grade Philips monitors a punt. Really like my Samsung 34" but the contrast this Philips kicks out seems the closest to oled.

Quick question, does this monitor overclock at all? Not a deal breaker but interested nonetheless!

i was very tempted to get one of these, but the problem is im not sure my eyes will cope with it

the 32 benq gave me huge eye strain due to scaling and everything blurry/small

At 40" I don't use any dpi percentage increase in windows. It's perfect (sitting about 2.5ft away). Definitely not blurry, so crisp you can hear it snap Mmmmmm

If a website is a bit hard to adjust to just hold ctrl and mousewheel up :D

Honestly 40" and 4k are like peanut butter and bananas :o

It can go to 75hz if you have a good cable. I honestly need to test that again. I'll try some games out and see if it works, but it's an option in the CCC. I'll report back.

Just snapped one of them up, thought it only fair to mention :)
