The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

guys i just received this monitor, i plugged a displayport cable that came with it into the monitor and my gpu, but its only doing 30hz. Does this monitor not come with a 60hz displayport cable?

edit: nvm i scrolled back 2 pages and found my answer

What colour settings do you guys use whilst gaming? Rgb or the standard one that it comes with. This monitor doesnt look as good as the 32 inch ben1 3201pt, but this monitor doesnt strain my eyes at all where as that one required me to use an ice pack on my eyes.

How is the quality on this compared to 27 inch 1440p ips do you guys reckon?

I don't used the standard one as everything is maxxed you get a bit of motion blur, with settings knocked down there are no such issues, or it is lessened.

I use settings that are very close to the calibrated smartuniformity shown on tftcentral

It is better than my u2711 in some areas (contrast, black level due to reflective screen and of course its native res) worse in others (1080p scaling, reflections due to reflective screen, stand)

I agree with the monitor not looking that good at first turn on. But after I installed a color profile from TftCentral, I was convinced this is the monitor to keep!

Gentlemen.....I've found you courtesy of the Samsung s34E790 thread . A couple of guys pointed me this way in a bid to find a monitor that blows me away on the games I play ;-)

The Samsung had to go back, I play 'a lot' of Elite Dangerous, and frankly I hated it on that VA screen . Terrible banding around the gradient glow of bright stars , inky oil slicks in the background (photos on that screens thread if you are interested ) I just couldn't put up with it when my old TN panel looked so much better in Elite.

What worried me about this screen is it's also VA . And I guessed it would have the same banding problems on gradients.

What is the consensus ?!does this phenomenon exist on this panel also ?

Sounds like your old panel had really bad viewing angles. I haven't noticed any banding with my BDM4065UC. Colors flow evenly at my end.

Hrmm not sure what to think about this monitor, im afraid now it might be too big, im sitting right close to it and the sides feel like they are curving away.

anyone else felt like this when they first used it?

Had this beauty since Monday. Upgraded from a 27" Hazro IPS. For my needs it's perfect

Plenty fo real estate for work purposes. Entertainment wise, i'm loving 4K Netflix. Gaming I have only tested a few games. Battlefield 4 in 4K, Paracel Storm is simply outstanding

How are you viewing '4K' Netflix content? I thought this wasn't supported on the PC yet.

Filmed a few short gaming sessions in various games for people to see.
Afraid I couldn't find my tripod so had to resort to a webcam on my head... Yeah, I know :p

Hopefully it shows enough to see the screen quality and the colours.

As for my B grade monitor - was still wrapped up and only faults I have noticed are 1 dead pixel at the very top of the screen and the panel is not 100% flush against the bezel at the top in one small section. You can only see this when you get close and look up, doesn't glow on the screen.

Yes, I tried the presets, but I didn't have the calibration tool they used. I couldn't get the right color calibration. I was satisfied with the profile I mentioned

yeah but for the philips it gives you the option to use two, user defined mode or a smart uniformity mode. which one did you use?

Also at the edges the screen is evidently black, is this normal?

I now noticed the picture quality on this is actually very good, it looks a bit off to me because im used to the huge brightness of IPS screens, probably why my eyes dont hurt on this monitor either which is a good thing
