*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

At launch it's not just about games currently available though, it's about potential games coming and Sony IMO has the better first parties with the likes of Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog, along with Sucker Punch.

Sony's first party devs are why I went with Sony this gen. Last gen I started with the 360 but then got a PS3 as I thought the exclusives were excellent. I tended to play more on the 360 as multi platform games were better. This gen it looks like they'll be better on the PS4 AND Sony will still have all those excellent first party dev games.

are there regular new demos put on the ps store?
dunno if there's just not many being released or if they have stopped putting as many demos on the ps3/xbox now the next gens have been released

Download this

http://duk01.ps4.update.playstation...e4f7b5cef168ead0519cb0dfd2ebda6/PS4UPDATE.PUP

Follow these instructions

1) On the USB storage device, create folders for saving the update file.
Using a computer, create a folder named "PS4". Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".

2) Download the update file, and save it in the "UPDATE" folder you created in step 1.
Save the file with the file name "PS4UPDATE.PUP".

3) Turn off the power of your PS4 system completely. Check that the power indicator is not lit. If the power indicator is lit orange, touch the power button on the PS4 system for at least seven seconds (until the system beeps a second time).

4) Connect the USB storage device that the update file is saved on to your PS4 system, and then touch the power button for at least seven seconds. The PS4 system starts in safe mode.

5) Select [Update System Software]. Follow the screens to complete the installation.

If your PS4 system does not recognise the update file, check that the folder names and file name are correct. Enter the folder names and file name in single-byte characters using uppercase letters.

Great thanks, similar method to the PS3 then, always handy to know. 320MB update too, so I'm glad I checked!

Demos have been less and less common for a few years now, I think developers have realised that for the most part, they just don't accomplish very much. The chances of putting someone off of buying a game by letting them play a demo are greater than the chances of attracting someone to the game who wasn't initially going to buy it anyway.

My boys are having trouble using PS4 online. Keep getting message that says they need PS+. I have PS+ until 2015, I've also activated the PS4 as my primary console. So they should be able to play online.. Is their any reason my kids are getting this message? Do they they need to make the PS4 their primary console as well? Any help appreciated.

you have obviously done something wrong somewhere.

therefore start from scratch, initialise the console.

use your account details first before any others as the first main account and set it as primary ps4.

then add their accounts afterwards.

it should definitely work, because i have set up another console to use my psn plus and games on on their account.

Hm maybe I shall get that.

Also, I was looking at trade in prices for PS4 games and Killzone SF is only worth £9 cash or £13 trade in! And that is at both Game and Cex!

Terrible to think that a game that retails near £50 has dropped so much. I expect some PS3 games may be worth more than that to trade in, even though they cost half the retail price to buy new.

Was going to trade in AC4 and Killzone SF for Infamous and maybe MGS, but seeing as together I would only get £37 :( (£13 KZ and £24 for AC4)

if CEX and Game are buying it of you at that price what are they selling it at, will not touch CEX with an infested dead carcass

edit: just checked there website and there selling it for £20 lol ****** con artists, they are buying and selling Knack for more money lol

CEX are mostly okay with trade in prices for cash, you get more than at most other places, the problem with Killzone is it's a bundled game so they have tons and tons of them, so they won't offer much money.

Take Tomb Raider, I paid £29 for it and I can get the same back from CEX if I wanted to.

I paid £30 for AC4 second hand and got £24 back for it when I decided it wasn't for me.

Yeh I only use CEX if I want cash as they are usually a bit better than Game (but use game for trade ins to add to my reward points).

I was very close to pre-ordering MGS/Infamous but think I will do the sensible thing and wait. I've got so many other games to play and they will drop price pretty fast

Sooo first game to hit the PS4 that is actually rendering above 1080 eh?

Lego Movie - digital foundry findings

[Update 16/3/14 19:07: an interesting theory here on a vertically super-sampled PS4 image, derived from a 1920x1200 native resolution squeezed down to 1080p. After reviewing the assets, we're more inclined to believe it's in the neighbourhood of 1920x1280 based on 64/54 pixel ratio. The boost to image quality is minimal - additional resolution benefits thin geometry and texture detail, neither of which are major elements in the visual make-up of this game. Additionally, much of the image is submerged under depth of field - the main reason this escaped our notice in the first place. For the record, Lego Marvel Super Heroes on PS4 is definitely native 1080p, so this is a new development for the series - and could well be the first PS4 game to render at a resolution exceeding full HD.]

Anyone know if the Gamestop trade-in works? I pre-ordered Infamous at the weekend but didn't receive an email with the form to fill out for trading in NFS to get it down to £14.97
