*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Also you can buy PS4 game codes on Amazon.com and add them to the US account. Not much available just now but some are cheaper than buying through the console. NBA 2K14 for example works out at £30.

If you're not averse to digital purchases then it's not a bad way to go.

Did this for NBA 2k14 when it was on sale after Christmas, got it for £22 after conversion :) Redeemed fine, just make sure you pick a state without sales tax on digital purchases.

Is there a way of telling when you friends were last online?

My friends list is getting very long and would like to remove any that have not been online for ages

How is 2k14?

I've been eyeing it up for a while but read mixed reviews because of the shooting being on the stick and an extremely high number of steals per game.

I like my wireless Pulse headphones - only really used them with my laptop thus far, as the PS4 hadn't supported....simple job of plugging in the USB dongle and Windows (8.1) happily installed whatever it needed and the 'phones worked great (even sound profile switching and bass impact faff). Tried plugging them in via direct 3.5" jack to my Vita, too, and that worked just fine - now really looking forward to getting home at the weekend to try in all their glory on my PS4 :p

I'm undecided what to get, 4Gamers look to be releasing a decent looking headset for £45 which I'm happier paying than £200 for some Astro set.

So do these wireless headsets all need to be connected via 3.5mm cable to the controller for mic functions or are any of them completely wireless.

The 2.0 version headset will have a 3.5mm jack, it says as much on the Playstation EU blog. The other two headsets are wireless only I believe.
Thanks, thats the key difference it would seem.

Sounds like all 3 work wirelessley via a USB dongle (after the update) for game audio and chat. The new one will also let you use a 3.5mm jack so you could plug that into the controller direct. I guess it would save a bit of battery (if it disabled the wireless transmitter when 3.5mm is used). But really the 3.5mm is more for devices that would not take the USB dongle (mobile phones tablets etc with 3.5mm jacks).

But the Pulse (elite?) also has a 3.5" jack on it....I must admit, I have not tried it on a DualShock4, but it works on a laptop/Vita via the supplied cable for audio (don't have any idea if it works for Mic as well, mind)

The update is taking an age to download, whats actually in this update as I am struggling to find any in depth info online? is it just headset and mute support!

Firmware notes just say that the PQ of DVD playback is improved and the following headsets are supported:

CECHYA-0080
CECHYA-0083
CECHYA-0086
CECHYA-0088

ps3ud0

I don't think many software updates will be that good until after the Japan launch (22nd Feb). After launching in their home territory expect the following updates to come thick and fast and add a lot of stuff like Blu-Ray 3D support, etc.

Sony are working on fixing the patching system atm, it's got a huge flaw which needs patched immediately.

Anyone got 2 PS4's?

Basically my brother is buying one and we want to share both my PSN Plus and games collection (basically my account) and he will pay me £20 a year for plus and chip in for digital copies of games from now on.

If I set up my account as his main account and then he uses his old account as the second account. can he use the second account with my PSN plus sub to go online at the same time as me? can he play the same digital game from my account at the same time as me using the second account?

anyone know if that should work fine or not?
