a USB DAC should work in theory but it may not if it isn't recognised as an audio device by the PS4 but a optical DAC will definitely work.
I have a wireless headset for sale in members market works perfectly with PS4 and other consoles no problem up to 3 at the same time.
Correct, I'd rather have a decent set of headphones than a gimmicky virtual surround sound 'gaming' headset with a silly price tag. I had some lovely Audio Technica ATH-M50S studio headphones and I'd likely get those again if I could connect to the DAC through the PS4, the controller would not be able to drive them. I do not game online much and I certainly don't talk when I do so I'd rather have better audio over chat functions
I also have the option of a DAc/AMP that accepts optical in so I presume that would work fine.

Get an optical DAC or a decent set of USB sennheisers then.

My xbox one is almost silent playing everything, my PS4 is similar or noisier than the original xbox 360 - its for me the only bit that sony have dropped the ball on.

You can have your PSN profile on as many PS4s as you want, but only one can have it logged in at once, and one can only be a primary console meaning be able to use a different profile to play the primarily ps4 account's games

Bro's console - I need to activate this is my Primary PS4 then all sub accounts can access my games and use PS plus to go online.
My Console - I need to use my account as a sub account or main account but do not activate as my primary console, only my account can then use online and have access to my games.
This way both can play online at the same time and on the same games but only one account on my console can do this whereas all the accounts on bro's can.
All of this is possible with 1 psn plus sub and buying games digitally instead of 2 discs. So should work out to a saving of £20 a year plus say £20-£40 per game.
Bare in mind you can buy PSN credit for cheap and use that for games.
I think I will have to delete the credit card on my account and the password on his console so there is no chance of him buying something by mistake, etc.
Someone may find this info useful if they wish to do the same with a mate who has a PS4

Just off the phone with Sony Support and I sent them my controller 11 days ago.
They have lost it, even though I sent it recorded delivery, all my details on the back of the parcel as well as a reference number inside the parcel cellotaped to the controller.
I had to give them my Royal Mail Tracking code to prove I had sent it to them and now it looks like if they cannot find it by tomorrow they will send me out another.
Will phone back tomorrow to verify the above.
But if your having dodgy wear on the controller, best bet is just to buy thumbsticks off ebay and replace them yourself, I hate those orb cover things they are crap.
Cost me £4 to post it as well, which would have paid for like 6 thumbsticks had i went down that route.
Better off fixing it yourself imo.

I can confirm that the tritton 5.1 pro+ work as i have a set though i think the sound quality is poorer than the ax pro version, which i also own ( mic was broke on them so got the pro+)
an unnamed source has leaked about last of us goty edition for ps4. it was posted over on the official PlayStation forums, and reported on PSU.com , it also mentioned beyond two souls will be getting the same goty treatment for ps4. take what you will from this, pinch of salt. but I for one hope this is true..

theres a video on "world star hip hop" of a young russian couple having sex and broadcasting it on PS4 live, worth a watch as the guys more focused on the comments on the screen (which are hilarious) than the job at hand.
