*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

speak to a different sony service agent.

That's often the case with CS like isn't it. Depends very much on who you speak to and what mood they are in. Or maybe some of them are just really under trained and are not sure what is normal and what is a fault.

I won't bother quoting my call reference from last time, I'll just treat it as a new call and try someone else. Fair enough that they want to hear it actually happening but it's just a faff to do so as I can't phone them from my house.

At least I can sort it out with Amazon if dealing with Sony is awkward, so I feel good knowing It'll get dealt with one way or the other. Sony sorting out would just be easier as it'd be a direct console exchange. Will find out tomorrow hopefully. Amazon stock due back in on the 14th Feb so not too long.

I got killzone, didtn like the save system, so shelved it in a hope they'd fix, latest update is they're adding additional save checkpoints..

and a 30 fps lock or those that want it, plus loads of mp fixes and additional bits etc... I think killzone shadowfall is a stunning looking game..

Anyone know where I can pre-order the new Wireless PS4 headset? - It's due out Monday the 10th - surprised it's not available to pre-order anywhere yet!

thanks

Where have you seen a release date? I've just had a quick look on about 6 sites and none of them mention a release date.

Ah cheers TheVoice and Zoomee. I looked on the US blog. Didn't bother with the eu. It does say Market Dependant after it, so it could have been a guesstimate?

Ahahahahaha!

Wait... that was an intentional joke right?

It's not your average 'disc spinning inside the drive' sound. It's a rather loud vibrating noise. I did a Google on it and some people were saying it's normal, some were saying it isn't and some were saying it's just the surface that the PS4 is laying on.

I have my PS4 laying flat and on a wood desk so maybe I need to try it standing up and on a different surface.

It's a high speed blu ray drive running at max revs.

i called it ages ago

he's obsessed about finding faults in everything that he buys.

i don't know how he does his grocery shop unless he grows all his own produce, imagine getting home and finding that an apple or banana had a slight mark or bruise?

i would be straight down back to the supermarket demanding compensation for them trying to kill me.

What fault do you have just out of curiosity?

it's posts like the above.

you go out of your way to look for faults in your own products and if you see something even remotely similar you think it's the same thing.

the faulty drive is making a abnormal noise, yours is normal operation, but you seem to think it may be related.

they manufacture millions of consoles, some are bound to have slight issues. but on the whole your console should be fine, you have to be really unlucky to get a dodgy one (unlike the original 360). stop looking for faults it's covered by warranty, SOGA, etc even if it develops one, just use the damn thing instead of testing for faults.

i don't know why your so obsessed with faults. i don't think any mass produced product has ever had every single unit come out perfect in history.

normal operation is the drive makes some slight whirring sounds for 5 seconds then goes completely silent

I disagree. I'm not obsessed with faults and I don't go looking for them. If there is something that I want clarity on then I will ask a question regarding it, I appreciate that it may come across as I'm making a big deal out of nothing but I'm simply just asking the question.

It's just the fact that I'm not use to a drive making a noise like that before and as said it is only briefly after I've inserted the disc. Not a big deal at all and it doesn't happen every time, more likely down to my unlevel desk surface.

I enjoy the PS4 and I've noticed no other issues with it at all. I'm actually surprised as to how silent it is during normal operation.

yep the blu ray drive is quite loud when a disc is inserted and its spinning up to start reading data. it does calm down after 5 or so secs, tomb raider made the drive sing whilst installing..

its quite normal, its a high speed blu ray drive. if it makes a constant noise for no reason then panic , and as said. its under warranty and covered by sales of goods act. you're well covered so don't worry ....

My friend has the same issue apparently is quiet common
