Reminds me off the poor early PS2 games that ran in 50Hz mode. The Dreamcast's offerings piddled over them from a great height for many years.

Optical drives and hard drives are built to run horizontally.
Gravity puts extra pressure on the motors when moving upwards, whereas horizontally they move side to side therefore no extra pressure from gravity.
I'm not saying it won't work vertically your just adding additional wear and tear.

Gravity works on both sides of the disc though. That's the thing about discs, they are round and spin around a central point.

Well, yes the image will be 1080p, but the game itself will only reside in 800 pixels of vertical space.
I think he's talking about the laser motor moving up and down, which I think it will do if you have it stood vertically.

when they are vertical they move up and down, basically against gravity, putting extra pressure on them, therefore extra wear and tear.
that's why it's advisable to leave them horizontal

Right install Outlast, cranks up the 5.1. Lights off. Get into the asylum, just about to step into the a room.. Guy drops down from the ceiling...

The optical drive laser is mounted so that it moves horizontally whether the PS4 is horizontal, or vertical (on its side):
Also, if mounting HDD's vertically was bad for them then this wouldn't be the standard arrangement in server storage arrays (e.g. Jetstor arrays).
Exact same bit I did exactly that. I'll man up and get it played though.
Managed to get as far as opening the security door office and legging it down to the engine room. Next 'zombie' appeared and I got battered.
What I don't like about outlast is that the person your playing as seems to be a right weak git and can't fight to save his life - man if someones beating me down I'm sure I'd automatically start kicking the crap out of something!! - Tis just a game of hide and seek at the moment!

It's not designed to be a fighting game. What makes it so scary is the feeling of helplessness.
And no it doesn't change.
What games do you have for the PS4? It would be good to play with you again (giggity).

Hahaha, it has a few shock scares at the beginning, that one got me too. Headset came off and the lights went on. It's honestly not too bad the further you get in. Same with all horror games.
What makes it worse is I have played it and got further on PC. For some reason, while sitting on their on my own in the dark, with the speakers up. Something in my head was like, oh hell no
I thought no shame in turning this off and playing a bit of Ghosts instead Will have another attempt tonight, and restore masculinity

It's really creepy, the GF thought after watching reaction videos that she would nail it. Lasted 15 mins tops and won't play it again

Im livid that ive shelled 40 notes out for PS+ and this is what they are dishing out.... i hate horror games, there should be a choice each month, ie 1 from 3.
