*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Has paypal issued a charge back since the above or do you still have pending transactions on your account?

Paypal refused to accept it as an unauthorised purchase as I had "a billing agreement previously set up", well of course I did, my bloody PayPal was linked to it!

So my current account has currently taken the hit. Good job I'm in a position to sort that out with my own finances.

Hope you get it sorted mate, that is devastating. There seems to be huge fiasco with sony lately, random purchases, account locks, bans, authorized spending etc.

What IS going on? It's all over Playstation subreddit.

Thanks chap, I think I'm almost there. Called Sony again today and they needed my serial number. Luckily my partner is a teacher and is off work at the moment, so I asked her to send it to me. I've since called them back, they've profusely apologised for the manner in which it was dealt, and further claimed that "no more unsolicited e-mails will be sent to my address".

A refund was made into my PSN wallet, to which I claimed that wasn't good enough - it needs to go back into my PayPal (which they've agreed to).

They've said the whole thing could take a couple of days at least.

Wow, it really is truly outstanding that Sony are so behind on security. The recent influx of PSN account breaches has resulted in me removing any form of possible payment from my PSN account.

Its just way too risky to keep any payment details attached to a PSN account.

I really do hope the poster that got his account banned gets this sorted, I've read loads of reports of folks getting banned and then finally getting their accounts back but it takes time, and its the headaches that go with it, and the worry.

Sony need to sort it ASAP, but then haven't we all been saying this for like well forever?

Hopefully Kotaku UK will take me up on an article to get this out there and make everyone aware of the risks involved, and Sony's incompetence towards security (which we all know is pants anyway).

Thanks for the well wishes, I'll keep you all informed.

Just like that... The e-mail was all doom and gloom but they were very chilled on the phone.

Almost like, I don't know, they're used to these calls at the moment...

That's good news but exactly what I said, which is why its best to speak to them before overreacting. As with many companies, there are standard emails that are sent out and may actually not reflect the circumstances. Glad you got it sorted.

Here's a slim unboxing video. It looks damn thin! Not iPad thin. But thin for a console. Note the new DualShock 4 which has a thin light strip just above the touchpad so you can see it now. I hope they have improved the battery life of the damn thing though. (Did I say damn and thin enough?)

It looks OK, much better than the original photos. In all fairness the PS4 is slim anyway, how they managed to get it even slimmer is crazy. I wonder how the cool/noise is.

Can't see the point. PS4 is perfectly sized IMO. The PS3 was a bit large, but the 4 is fine. The only way I'd buy it is if I travelled a lot on business or something, then I'd slip it in my bag to while away the hours in my hotel room.

Actually, I reckon my shield would be better than that. Much slimmer than even the new slim and I can also slip in a loaded HDD with it.

Can't believe it :P

A slightly premium version of each console, in a standard AV width unit with the extra space used to provide a quieter cooling setup and in black. Would sell like hot cakes.

Going to contact Sony and MS and try and sell them my idea :P

Made me think of a giant black Apple Mac Mini. At least it doesn't have that huge horrid long LED strip.

You mean exactly like an original Xbox One...?

PSN made it quite clear what the situation was and they have caused me a few hours of work trying to get it sorted properly (it still isn't sorted in all fairness, I'm still banned/suspended and I'm still out of pocket).

They'll probably continue to treat their customers with a shoot first, ask questions later basis and it's not on at all. Still very miffed about the whole thing.

But thanks, I am glad it's almost sorted. I didn't realise how much I rely on my PS4 for entertainment, it's a media hub for us (Netflix, YT, NowTV and Amazon), let alone playing online multiplayer etc.

Bought Until Dawn the other day and tried to play it just now. Spent about half an hour in it and even with the sound turned up and having headphones on, the sound from the PS4 was just overbearing. It's a warm night and I'm upstairs in this flat which doesn't help, but it's not sweltering or anything and I have a fan going. Yet my PS4 sounds not only *way* louder than my PC(even while gaming) but also louder than my floor fan, and by a good margin. It's crazy.

I know many have fixed or reduced this by redoing the thermal paste but I'm not comfortable enough to do all that after having seen what it entails.

The PS4 may be quite small, but is sure as hell pays for it. I'd honestly rather it be a bit bigger to better deal with the heat. The fan noise is *ridiculously* loud. Louder than any console I've ever owned by far.

Mine had much more dust in it than I expected it to. I leave mine in sleep mode a lot too so that probably doesn't help as the fan will sometimes run at low speed.

That said it did suffer through a large kitchen renovation a couple of years ago and then my current flat had just recently been renovated and decorated when I moved in, so it was probably hoovering up a lot more dust than normal. The heatsink is very prone to clogging though, the fins are very close.
