*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Yeh it was just some silly horror game.

But next month it is looking like it will be some silly top-down zombie shooter, or some silly 2D puzzler, so I'd just sell my console now if I was you.

Ive now seen it could be a zombie game, so ill get that.

I wont sell the PS4 as i need it for MLB, but ive got to wait until May for that.

So it looks like the SSM job cuts have meant one of the new IPs have been dropped :(. Honestly I was hoping the GOW one would be on hiatus instead

The game might not of been working out so they cut it and the staff rather than starting over.

They don't tend to cut big block busting games going through an easy development.

Seems like a pretty crappy decision by Sony.
Well without further information Id just say it was a tough one, with a number of years under its belt if it wasnt in top condition Id rather it was cancelled than delivered. Theres still another new IP in the works from them...

We know Sony need to streamline so there will be some impact to SCEI - lets hope thats all it is...

Is usb flash drive media playback supported yet? If not does anyone know when it will be?

I imagine it will be available after they implement it, if they ever bother to do so.

Unless you know a good psychic their guess is as good as anybodies.

If you require media playback use something else, for the moment this is a games console and blu ray player only, not an all in one device.

Yes the ps3 could do it but the ps4 cannot currently. I hope it's soon but tbh i have so many media players it's no big deal.

Caved and ordered a PS4 in the week. Came with Rayman which I'm quite enjoying. Looking forward to the new Metal Gear but there seems to be some hoha about the main story being very short but I guess thats represented in it's low price.

I'm using mine on a monitor and using a cheap CYP DAC for optical > DAC > stereo amp (I spotted people asking about DACs on the previous page). The sound quality is very good for £40, just needs the volume turning up a bit more to get the same level as my PC but that might just be the PS4 as I've not used the HDMI for sound to compare.

They could have made metal gear 30 mins long and full price of £50 and I would still buy it day one:p

Finally got my hands on a PS4 yesterday but I'm having trouble hooking it up to my PC monitor which is a Asus SonicMaster MX239H, the system is on but I get no picture just flickering from black to grey. I hook it up to a TV and it displays fine, I've tried both HDMI ports on the monitor. Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like it could be a HDCP issue. Had a quick look up of the specs and can't see anything about it being compliant.

Edit. It HDCP compliant according to the Asus website so can't be that. Could it be the damaged HDMI port that was reported after release?

Yeah i did read about that but it works with my TV which is why i thought it was weird it wouldn't work with the monitor

Thanks for your help

OK had a look and its puzzling. Your monitor definitely works with the PS4 and doesnt need an indirect connection using a HDMI switch. Only thing I can think of is to try getting into the setup menu to see if that forces a video refresh - I dont think the PS4 has the same 'reset resolution process' the PS3 has (the one where hold the power button down til the beeps when you switch on the PS3), but you may want to double check that.

Only other generic advice is to check the monitors firmware. Presume the PS4 is up-to-date?

Just updated the monitor firmware, never thought to do that. Never think about updating monitor firmware. Thanks for your help all working now.

Third controller peeling, time for another replacement.
Thats pretty terrible - I really need to give my spare a bashing to check if that might wear - my first ones fine...
Both my first ones are starting to wear, How do we get them changed?
Check with your retailer first, but theyll likely ask you to swap out the whole package, if thats not acceptable ring Sony but expect them to ask you to send them back first before replacement...

Sony lost my controller after they received it. Sent by recorded delivery. I was without a controller for 11-12 days and it cost £4 to post it.

IMO just buy a set of 20 thumbsticks off eBay for £10 and replace them yourself.

No point in returning them IMO when spare thumbsticks are 50p each delivered
