And a Touchpad, even fewer games use that! The rectangle in the middles primary use is a touchpad, but almost all games that use it use it's secondary function as a button.

It's good for writing messages with the cursor hovering over the letters, it's used in TLOU Remastered and Gran Turismo Sport as well. (Only two games I own so far)
Plus if you use it on a PC you can control your mouse with it and right/left click etc.
Great controller.

Thanks guy, really helpful. I think I'll pull the trigger on one over the weekend. Not sure whether to buy a second hand one to save a bit of money and get myself a new controller (don't like second hand controllers) or to just buy one new for £240ish.

I've got a fairly high end/nvidia surround setup on the PC which I use for gaming on most of the time, my girlfriend likes the Xbox though and it does have a reasonably decent 4K HDR player. I'll play on it socially when I don't want to be shut in the study all evening. There's just better titles on the PS4 in my opinion, other than Sea of Thieves (which I got bored of very quickly) there's been nothing worth having an Xbox one for.

The problem with the touchpad is that as mentioned above, it's barely used but it's still going to have to be there for DualShock 5 if Sony include PS4 backwards compatibility next gen. It was a stupid design decision looking back.

It's quite nice using it for the keyboard and The Phantom Pain uses it well.

Yes, I do admit it is a boon when typing but you can also do that with gyroscope. I didn't know about the Phantom Pain - what does it do special? The only game I can think of is Killzone by which it acts as another D-pad to do things with your OWL drone thingy.

Special? Nothing really. Bottom right corner brings up the iDroid menu. Bottom left brings up the options. It just feels better not having to feel the tiny buttons.
