I also have it set for 3 month sub, Will cancel that now, and get a discount voucher from CD keys or something and do a year, But when game's like Witcher 3 FO4 come along, i find my self playing offline much more and don't need the online side.

makes no sense to pay monthly or 3 monthly. Unless you know for a fact your only going to use it for 1-3 months (say you work off shore or abroad for parts of the year).

Hell even if I only used it for 3 months. i'd pay yearly to get all the free PSN+ games for the extra £10.

The fuss it about increasing the tariff considerably without:

A) Increasing quality or content (or improving stability and security). Or at least nothing has been mentioned about it.
B) Not increasing 12 month subscriptions by the same percentage.

Surely if an increase in tariff is warranted, it should be across the board and more reasonable. My guess is that more people than you think use the 1 and 3 month subscriptions and that is why they are hiking up the cost.

What justification have Sony got for slapping a 25% increase in cost on the 1 & 3 month subscription? What are they going to offer over and above the current content and performance to warrant a 25% increase?

When it comes to market forces, XBL gold is only around £20 for 12 months so Sony's pricing seems way off base when you consider the two schemes are very similar.
 
The reason why XBLive is only £20 a year is probably supply and demand. Less people have bought a XB1 therefore those key selling sites are being forced to sell their live codes for cheaper. More people bought PS4 therefore demand is higher.

Only the 1 month and 3 month tariffs have increased (to the same price as XBOX's). 12 month's hasn't changed. why have they done this? probably because they want more people to buy 12 months and do away with 1 month and 3 month subs. they haven't changed the 12 month sub so you cannot demand more content.

i have noticed on this sub forum the sony lot are much more whinier than the ms lot. every time psn goes down it's as if the world ended, but when xblive goes down you hear nothing.

it costs them more money to print 3 different sku's. if they switch to offering 1 year subs only they will save money as well as save their customers money. to me it seems like a step in the right direction.

if you only buy a 1 month or 3 month sub then maybe it's time to switch to a yearly one it's never made sense before and now it makes even less sense to buy a 1 month or 3 month sub.

they have matched MS's prices nothing more nothing less.

the fact you can get live for £20 from 3rd parties has nothing to do with this as that is market driven.
 
Lol - yeah because in any other walk of life being charged 25% more for exactly the same thing is just fine and dandy and if one should feel grieved by it they should just shut their whiney pie hole, yes? That about where you are coming from? Because, of course, one should be an alright Jack master race 12 month subber, right? That about the short and the tall of it? ;)

I didn't buy a PS4 to pay Microsoft Xbox prices. And if I wanted a 12 month PS+ sub I would have bought one. If Sony want to try and penalise me more than they already are doing, fine (and lets not try and pretend it is anything but), they can try.

I have been toying with the idea of getting rid of PS+ for a month or more. This is probably the deciding factor to be honest. I don't accept that I should be paying 25% extra "bcuz Microsoft" in the same way I don't pay 25% extra on my groceries "bcuz M&S". I also don't accept that I should be forced to buy a 12 month sub for PS+ either. I feel it is a cynical and money grabbing move when Sony have no plans to improve their service.

I am not after more content, I am after a consistent and stable service that is more secure with better customer service etc etc. You know, all the basics. I'd happily pay the 25% extra then. Honestly I couldn't care less about the free games because 90% of them are ***** anyway.

Saying they have not increased the price of the 12 month sub so we can't expect improvments in PS+ is a complete cop out.

If they do actually improve their infrastructure, stability and security I may change my mind and be willing to pay more, but until then I think I will kick it to the kerb as a matter of principle.

On a side note, perhaps you hear less 'whining' from the MS crowd because there are far fewer of them? ;)
 
I pay 3 monthly because I've never bothered to change it since I joined. It's such a small amount I don't even know if I CBA to change it even though it has gone up a bit.

you know I'm the same, its just been a quarterly charge from Sony for so long now I never even bothered to look into a full year..

It is a small increase - but its still an increase and I do see way some are complaining, I do think the online storage for Ps4 cloud saving needs increasing. If the increased this at the same time as the price increase I'd be a little more forgiving - although I'm not overly fussed as my Sky sub has sky rocketed over the years to the point where I have actually decided Sky TV simply isn't worth the outlay anymore and from Dec this year when I'm out of contract it will be cancelled.

Some subs are worthwhile, Amazon Prime gives more then I spend, seems PS+ does, but to me Sky TV doesn't represent value for money, yet I'm sure to others it does.

Yeah played for a couple hours last night, graphics / sounds are really very good, kind of eerie experience. Definitely something different which I like. Nice to have a change of pace from more action packed games etc.
 
They really need to invest in a better cluster of file servers for PSN. It's just becoming a joke, 5 hours to download 1GB, really?

The usual pause and resume tactics don't seem to be working at all right now.
 
When did you download mate? I started mine at 6pm and thought it would be done by now but its on an absolute crawl at the 5-6gb mark :/ is psn ****ing about again?

On upto 100mb virgin line, usually fine
 
It was around 6:05.

I'm on BT infinity 50Mbps, started it at that time then I turned my ps4 on from rest mode about 6:30 when I posted in the OT and it was done.
