We've gotta stop mentioning the stand thing, it's just a bit 'Reddit' esque of banging the drum about something that isn't actually true.

The PS5 and PS5 Pro don't need a stand to sit vertically. The included plastic feet are used for it to sit horizontally.

The PS4 could also sit vertically if you wanted - and that didn't come with a stand. You had to buy that dark plastic stand from PlayStation, same for the PS4 Pro.

The original PS3 and then the 'super slim' also didn't come with a stand - both could stand vertically without it.

We can go back and look at the PS2 as well. All of these consoles, out of the box, can sit both vertically and horizontally without the need for the stand - and the only time a console couldn't sit horizontally out of the box, Sony includes a base / plastic feet.
While I largely agree, the slight difference is the original PS2 and PS3 had rubber feet on one end specifically for vertical orientation. I'm not really against them doing away with that though, it looks a bit weird when orientated horizontally.

Just picked up these. I'm doing my part to help Sony's profits, are you? :p

Pro preordered and will be getting the disc drive as well, can order from a few places although feel its a bit early to order considering console delivery over a month away. What’s the general thoughts on this, likely to sell out closer to release, better buy buy now? What’s everyone else doing? Thanks.

Yup, I saw that ... 2.5 grand for an image, thinking they had scored a "bargain" by not paying 4-5K. Ouch, and eBay aren't bailing them out. Very scummy.
Yeah, I’m surprised eBay are ok with that practice since it’s very obviously designed to con people into bidding on the assumption it’s an actual console.

All it does IMO is reflect negatively on eBay that they’re allowing outright scammer's to operate freely on their platform without oversight.

I don't understand how they allow it

Probably low paid CS staff in the Philipines or India etc. following a very strict paint by numbers approach to refunds, perhaps no or limited discretion to make a decision re: the item technically being as descibed but the general vibes of the listing being misleading.

Maybe it needs some policy put in place by higher up people at ebay if they want to deal with it.

To be honest I think ebay should just outright ban the sale of pictures/photographs of items. Certainly they shouldn't appear in search results by default.

Maybe create an "artwork" / "photography" category that doesn't appear in search listings unless you're actively looking for it.

Considering you can still pre-order a PS5 Pro on the Sony website today ( 24 hours after launch ) I suspect there won't be many problems picking up the console later on if you wish. Also, other retailers have yet to advertise their stock allocation, so probably plenty to go around. The bigger issue in the short term are the accessories eg. vertical stand & optical drive. If you require either of them this side of Xmas you may want to consider snapping them up now.

Should grab the disc drive imo.
If anything sells out it will be this... I've ordered mine from John Lewis.

I'm not going to bother with the vertical stand because it'll be sat horizontally inside the TV bench, where my current PS5 is.

Basically Ebay are scalpers to.
Yup. Mad people can still get away with the picture or empty Xbox box scam. I sold a dining table and chairs on there to an elderly lady whose husband basically just booted her out and she had nothing. I messaged saying if she paid cash she could have the lot for $50. EBay messaged me the day after with screenshots of the conversation. Suspended me and gave me a strike.

Thanks ordered from AO.

Not ordered yet but am tempted. Was planning on waiting for more real world reviews.

Has it sold out yet ?

What's the first game your playing when you load your PS5 Pro ?
Can still order from PlayStation direct.

I’ll try Doom Eternal Ray Traced mode as my first game.

So all the games that have been announced as getting Pro patches have gone up in price on the PlayStation store and no disc drive as standard. So you either rebuy at inflated prices or have to buy a disc drive for £100 if you have them on disc already.

TBH I really do hope Sony end up as the next Sega but I doubt it will happen. We now live in a world of easily available credit so £700 is available to all. It will just get worse as MS have pretty much given up. I can see the PS6 being and £800+ console.

I think the gaming glory days are long gone now and unfortunately it’s not about the players anymore.

As I said when they put up the price of HZD: Sony are a scummy company.

Honestly, it sounds like a trite answer, but get a Steam Deck. I enjoy my PS5, but the Deck still feels like something from the good days.

I can only speak for myself, but as good as the Steam Deck is, it's not a great substitute for a home console that plugs into a large TV/OLED. Yes, you can do that with a Steam Deck, but it doesn't really have the horsepower to output 4K graphics and grant good performance. It's very much a portable/handheld device ... which has it's own advantages, but for me if I want to laze on my couch and play a game I'd prefer to be viewing on my 65" OLED.
