Watch the deleted scenes, your perspective on it might change after seeing it and what exactly is said just before the Engineer goes boogaloo.
Fair enough. Can't find it, only a tiny clip where the engineer speaks with no translation

An extended version complete with deleted scenes doesn't necessarily make it a 'directors cut'^ bit late to the party, aren't we They've all been discussed to death already
So I'm confused. RS said there would be NO directors cut, but it seems there will be an extended version with the deleted scenes back in the movie...via a menu or something

I suppose....but does that mean the deleted scenes will actually be edited in - or will you still have to go find them like the normal DVD/Blu-Ray?
They're not cut into the film.
In fact, most are barely like cleaned up "dailies" or "edit rushes" - as someone above said - Wayland & Vickers convo, although adds to their relationship is done on high school play level, no retakes. Shaw vs Engineer duel has edit markers and strings visible throughout etc. This means extended version is rather unlikely, unless they go back to post production with the extra footage.
They had a mission to go to earth and wipe out humanity. Something goes wrong so they can't take off. Instead, when he wakes up, there are humans on board his ship.
Of course he's going to kill them!

Its a movie so no logic but the obvious thing to do would to restrain the alien before waking him up. If they wanted answers, there was no rush to do anything beyond the movie needing to end soon of course
Theres no excuse to naivety, they had just fought a dam zombie so its clear this is hostile terrority
Yeah I noticed that. In that particular deleted scene I found the lack of music and almost complete silence a bit more suspenseful, actually. Which shocked me, because the entire film is devoid of it.
For the record I love Prometheus but this following trailer is dead right
The alternative endings/start and deleted scenes. Is it possible to select these on DVD and watch that version all the way through. Or are the just add ons you watch as a separate scene?
They're just add ons. Not cut into the film. There's no alternate version.
There's no alternate version.
brilliant and true.
