The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

^ bit late to the party, aren't we  They've all been discussed to death already :p

So I'm confused. RS said there would be NO directors cut, but it seems there will be an extended version with the deleted scenes back in the movie...via a menu or something
An extended version complete with deleted scenes doesn't necessarily make it a 'directors cut' :)

They're not cut into the film.

In fact, most are barely like cleaned up "dailies" or "edit rushes" - as someone above said - Wayland & Vickers convo, although adds to their relationship is done on high school play level, no retakes. Shaw vs Engineer duel has edit markers and strings visible throughout etc. This means extended version is rather unlikely, unless they go back to post production with the extra footage.

Yeah I noticed that. In that particular deleted scene I found the lack of music and almost complete silence a bit more suspenseful, actually. Which shocked me, because the entire film is devoid of it.

The bit when Fifield comes back to the ship too; the bad CGI version of him they used actually looks closer to the original Alien than anything else in the film.

They had a mission to go to earth and wipe out humanity. Something goes wrong so they can't take off. Instead, when he wakes up, there are humans on board his ship.

Of course he's going to kill them!

Its a movie so no logic but the obvious thing to do would to restrain the alien before waking him up. If they wanted answers, there was no rush to do anything beyond the movie needing to end soon of course :p
Theres no excuse to naivety, they had just fought a dam zombie so its clear this is hostile terrority

The bullets used by the assault rifles are made of uranium carbide and based on the sound made they are coilguns of some kind with presumably much higher energies than conventional arms.
In the deleted scenes Shaw causes more damage with a curved fireaxe to the engineer than a uranium carbide bullet with 10,000+ ft/lbs of energy.
Absolute nonsense.

Indeedy.

Imo:

What i got out of the extended cut was basically the Engineer having second thoughts till Weyland put himself on a plateau with the Engineers, he considered himself a God and that just reaffirmed the Engineers belief they should die, especially after Weyland thought his synthetic Human was in some way comparable to what the Engineers had created through self sacrafice to spawn life.

i noticed that - having no music in those scenes made them very good. shame the film isn't like that.

The alternative endings/start and deleted scenes. Is it possible to select these on DVD and watch that version all the way through. Or are the just add ons you watch as a separate scene?
