***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

It seemed the early B's were inferior clockers over on XS, but all the stock thst came into the UK was B's and most people seem to having good clocks with them.

Did you get your L27A from OCUK ?

I'd say so yeah aslong as your mobo is capable. Every CPU is different tho so the only way to really tell is by giving it a go or a G0 as the case maybe;).

Hello folks,

Just got through putting my Q6600 together and so far all seems well except one thing. I was wonder what the AUX bit is on the following picture. Seem a bit hot and I have had a search but can't seem to find anything definative.

Cheers for any info.
Jon.

If that's a G0 quad, don't forget to add 15 degree's to each core temp, and if it is a G0, get some better cooling, quick.

Appologies for my stupidity, I have Coretemp working now...

Reading are (coretemp 0.95.4) :

Tjunction : 100
Core 1 : 63-67
Core 2 : 63-67
Core 3 : 58-62
Core 4 : 60-64

This at 3gHz (334x9) 1.2750 Volts on an Abit IP35 board. Is this to hot, should I try reseating the cooler?
...or am I just pushing it to far on Air ?

It depends on your cooling, I wouldn't expect much more with the retail HSF, but whatever you use, there's no harm in reseating it, at 1.275v it is a bit hot.

If you don't mind me asking how did you get Coretemp working under Vista 64?

After post hit F8 and select Turn off Driver Signing enforcement or however it goes and then run as Admin.

Hmmm...it's got a Tuniq Tower sat on it at the moment.

Ah yeah, a recent patch disabled buggering around with the bcdstore, I thought there might be another way other than using F8.

As for your cooling, it's one of the best air coolers, probably better than my scythe ninja so I'd definately reseat it.

Talon is taht a G0?

My B3 is currently at 3ghz on air, using a TT120.
1.2v after vdroop, 1.25v in BIOS
Idle temps are high 30s-low 40s, and under stress they rise to 65ish

Going to reseat it as I think I can get lower temps with a lap of the HS and maybe CPU

His is a G0, already asked on the previous page.

Righto, PC rebuilt...again

I dropped the Artic Silver 5 in favour of trying the stuff supplied with the Tuniq. New temps now range from 54-60 which I would say is a bit of a result?

Million doller question is, is this a reasonable heat to run with?

Thanks a lot for the replies btw Chuchulain
