HIP for CUDA was basically a regex replacement of CUDA functions with AMD functions, while some AMD functions were refactored to perfectly mimic the syntax of CUDA functions, initial implementation was sh!t, but might be the only workable strategy for AMD since nvidia is dictating standards, first mover advantage and all that

Have not played since the patch, sucks to be a non HW RTer with those nerfs :o

Yes the difference is quite noticeable! Just jumped on there and whacked everything to max so not tweaked for perf at all but what would you rather have, DLAA native 4k raster or DLSS perf with RT maxed, one offers not just superior iq but also better perf :p

Also, noticed that bug that tema in the video highlighted where with RT off, grass is missing, perhaps a restart would fix it but cba!

BTW, ignore the colours, tonemapping is messed up since captured when in HDR (speaking of which @mrk how did you get this to work again? I captured these with geforce now and viewed with photo viewer then saved as jpeg like you stated sometime back?)

I think with some settings reduced could get it up to 55-60 fps then FG on to bring it up to 80/90 fps.

People really are missing out on better visuals by refusing to use such tech like upscaling and FG.

IMO it is not optimised enough a game, but it's free so no grounds to complain really. 37fps with no upscaling or FG and only RT is woeful for a 4090, yeah it's 100fps with FG and DLSS Perf, but then again so is Cyberpunk with path tracing - Cyberpunk with just RT Ultra and Psycho RT Lighting it's closer to 200fps lol.

UE5 has a long way to go if devs don't bother optimising when hardware RT is in use.

Yup we really need the next gen gpus for UE 5 titles tbh, even 4090 isn't holding up great, some UE 5 games are better than others though but still, gpus are starting to show their age with these newer engines.
