**The Official S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow Of Chernobyl Thread**

great game, i completed it but have been messing around with some saved games...
went to freedom base, knifed the guy standing in front of the ammo room, shot door open, got the gp-37 and 500 rounds...wiped out about 30 freedom fighters, went to Duty camp and put 3 tunder grenades into the fire place they were sitting around :)
then went back to Bar and am slowly just killing everyone I meet lol, just about got to Duty bar and will try and wipe them all out, got a stash load of weapons

It's also here:

http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/10336/S.T.A.L.K.E.R.+1.0003+Patch+-+Non-US

I am just about to install.

Pitty there is no mention of dual core improvement.

That is for an unpatched version - I got freaked out when it said that saved games would be lost!!

For the 1.0001 to 1.0003 version click here.

The patch addresses the following changes:

* Added some textures of certain objects (for technical purposes).
* Added console command 'sv_listmaps' to view the list of maps queue.
* Added the support for additional mouse buttons (now they can be bound to
certain actions).
* Fixed bugs with player's character health bar in Multi-player.
* Fixed the crash upon making the screenshot to a saved game.
* Fixed the bug with standing dead bodies upon connecting to the game.
* Fixed inventory items placing system (Free for all and Team play modes).
* Fixed the enumeration of the game's version.
* Fixed the crash with using Numpad in some localizations.
* Fixed the crash on the level "Military warehouse".
* Fixed the crash while idling on the pause menu
* Fixed the crash in dialog with Professor Sakharov on the Yantar level.
* Fixed the storyline task "Meet with the Guide", now you can get it by
searching Ghost's corpse.
* Fixed the bug with NPCs spawning in front of the player.
* Fixed the A-life reaction time. Now A-life spawns new NPCs more seldom. Also
NPC movement speed is decreased when NPC are on different level then the
player.
* Binary files are now compiled with large address aware flag that supports up
to 3GB address space (relevant for Windows VistaT users).
* Added the possibility to record/play the camera fly-around
('demo_record'/'demo_play' commands). Now Stalker is ready for benchmarks.
* Fixed aspect ratio 16/9. Now the owners of the widescreen displays will have
the benefit from greater viewing radius.
* Fixed various crashes with dedicated server.
* The network packets have been merged. This will make the ping reduce twice or
more.
* The correctness of map name is now verified when changing the map using the
console.
* Fixed the dragging of dead bodies by monsters.
* Now dumps will be saved upon the game crashes.
* Fixed the in-game patching system for all localizations.
* Fixed the problem with the exceedingly long players' names.
* Fixed textual problems for 16/9 video format.
* Fixed game freezing upon trying to connect to a different version.
* Fixed binocular Spectator crash.
* Fixed non-existent grenade launcher firing.
* Fixed players turning invisible when reduced to a minimal amount of health.
* Fixed pre-selected skin not allowing for player spawn.

None of the 3rd patches fixes, dual core optimizations etc... are in this patch as this is the 2nd patch still, just changed to patch 3 now, all those fixes, dual core optimizations etc... are now in the next patch number 4, which would have been the 3rd if they never changed the 2nd to patch 3. :(

Those fixes above look like the ones from the old patch 2, but its now been changed a bit and bunged out as patch 3, asi twas originally 12mb, so they obviously removed the copyrighted material etc... and bunged it out as the 3rd.

From the preliminary list for the 1.0003 patch I saw this,

Render
- Dual core optimization.
- 10-15% FPS increase.

Think I may final buy this game when this patch is released. :)

Good news!

Nope, as i said above the 3rd patch now becomes number 4 as they canned the 2nd. :(

heres the original patch 2

1. Added console command "sv_listmaps" to see the list of maps on the auto map list
2. Fixed player health issues in MP
3. Fixed dead player bodies appearing to stand upright when entering a game
4. Improved item behaviour in the inventory
5. Changed game version number (duh?)
6. Actual patcher improved
7. Fixed crashes experienced due to use of the numpad in some areas
8. Fixed crashes experienced when saving
9. Added support for more mouse buttons (mouse4,5 etc)
10. Fixed crash experienced during Army warehouse area (YES! I keep getting this POS)
11. Fixed NPC spawning next to you when you load a game (Omg, the number of times I loaded a game and got owned in the face..)
12. NPCs will now spawn more slowly. NPCs moving on areas not occupied by the player move slower.

This patch 3 is just a rehash of it, with some multiplayer fixes added, hence why now patch 3 with all the AI fixes, dual core optimizations now becomes the 4th. :(

Ive installed it, all works, and the binoculars have changed, and also you can zoom in and out on them now which im sure you couldn't before. :)

I am still using a unpatched version. Is it worth playing this game again with this new patch. Is it save game compatible with 1.0 version perhaps as in does this patch have save game converter?

I stoped playing because of the save games not working. I figured id wait till there a good few patches ahead.

Well, i patched, but my old saves wouldn't work, so seeems i'm starting again, not that i'm that fussed - love the atmosphere in this game. Few questions before i go through it again though;

I'm not too up to date on the STALKER mod scene - are there any mods that people would define as 'the way the game was meant to be played' (terrible grammar i know) - i'm thinking ala OOO / LOD packs etc for oblivion.

If i'm starting again i'd like it to be as immersive as possible - i've heard about realism mods etc - any recommendations?

And for those having trouble running this with a decent fps, i saw this earlier;

http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=540331&topic=35049223

havn't tried it yet myself (at work atm), but if i gives the performance boost some say it does (though i would take anything said on those boards with a pinch of salt  ), it might be worth a look.

Just to iterate.. the install notes state..

Saved games from 1.0001 version will work with 1.0003 version.

however, patching to 1.0001 from vanila will result in loss of saved games.

If you have NOT patched to 1.0001 and are still on 1.0000, use the inclusive
version below that corresponds to the game SKU that you bought:

USA : stk-US-0-3.exe
World Wide* : stk-WW-0-3.exe
Digital Download : stk-DD-0-3.exe

If you have patched to version 1.0001 already, use the incremental version
below that corresponds to the game SKU that you bought:

USA : stk-US-1-3.exe
World Wide* : stk-WW-1-3.exe
Digital Download : stk-DD-1-3.exe

We would use the WW version. I have no idea what the Digital version is?

Added the support for additional mouse buttons (now they can be bound to
certain actions

this is a handy one to have :)
