**** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Thread ****

^Got it off Amazon. Possible it could be a fake. Ideally I would replace it with something higher capacity but they seem quite rare.

Can you elaborate on this please; after about 2 years my Note 4 started getting a lot of battery issues (getting hot and draining quickly, switching off at 20%, randomly jumping down to 3%) so I replaced the battery and it is a bit better but still not great. With heavy usage it doesn't even last a full day. Interested to know how others have handled this experience.

Sorry for the late reply. When I first got my Note 4, I would easily expect 5-7 hours of SoT. Like most Android phones I have owned, that honeymoon period is short lived. I know batteries degrade over time but, for me at least, something doesn't add up. The problem seems to manifest quicker than you expect and despite replacing several batteries, it still persists. I have had similar issues as you have described; gets hot despite not doing anything too tasking, always drains quickly, sudden drops when it gets low. There are days now when I will get 2 hours of SoT, with the average being around 3 and a bit hours. My current Note 4 is a replacement model as my previous one got the eMMC bug, and I am confident this model is actually brand new and not a refurb but still get battery issues. I have tried ROMs, Xposed apps, tweaking and plain old stock - nothing works. My battery problems seem to be getting worse as Android evolves, convinced this has something to do with it.

On a side note, low and behold (despite my current N4 being less than a year old), after my two year contract ends - my phone starts exhibiting strange behaviour (like it's trying to tell me to upgrade :p). Weird hangs, complete brain fart moments, very noticeable slow downs. Not sure why as the ROM I am using has usually been rock solid.

A Samsung Electronics official said, “We made every effort to install a display-integrated fingerprint sensor on Galaxy Note 8, but we decided not to install it on this strategic phone due to various technical limitations such as security.” Samsung Electronics will continue research and development with companies such as CrucialTec, which has the technology. CrucialTec is a South Korean firm that manufactures optical trackpads and fingerprint scanners.

:(

It's disappointing that's for sure. Under the screen would have made the phone look sleeker and it's something that separates the note 8 from the s8 and I think an under the screen fingerprint scanner is just such a cool feature. Watch the note 8 also only have 4gb of ram n the only things different from the s8 is a pen and dual camera.

I would have thought the fingerprint sensor was quite important certainly for 'face' if nothing else but isn't it a requirement for Android Pay.

Samsung will launch the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 8 in September, according to VentureBeat. The handset is expected to carry an eye-watering price tag of €999 ($1,120), earning it the title of the firm’s most expensive smartphone to date.

With regards to specifications, the Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to pack a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge Infinity Display (18.5:9 aspect ratio), an Exynos 8895/Snapdragon 835 CPU, 6GB of RAM and a 3,300mAh non-removable battery.

According to "an individual briefed on the company's plans", the Note8 will be Samsung's most expensive smartphone yet, retailing for €999 unlocked in the Eurozone. Since the initial prices of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ started at €799 and €899, respectively, this makes some sense. If you're wondering how this will translate into US dollars, we're guessing the unlocked model will retail for $925 (because the S8 is $725 and the S8+ is $825).

OUCH

That price is ridiculous. Especially as in the states Samsung are supporting a BOGOF deal on the s8! Why do we always get screwed on price? :(

Reliable tipster OnLeaks has teamed up with online publication 91Mobiles to release a set of renders and a 360-degree video of the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, allegedly showcasing the handset from all angles.

Just like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, the Galaxy Note 8 sports a near bezel-less design, though it’s slightly thicker to house the S Pen and the refreshed camera, and its frame is more square to help with ergonomics.

id be fairly confident updates and patches as (as with windows) are "accidently" designed to slow down the system and cause additional battery drain...

install a windows 7 machine unpatched and see how fast it seems compared to a fully updated one.... Im half tempted to try and downgrade my note 4 back to base install see if it run better, im sure it was better when I first purchased it

I can probably get over the placement of the finger print scanner but the price and battery size are a bit off putting.

Edit - in screen finger print scanners have just surfaced. Apparently the 835 doesn't support it.

So whats everyones thoughts who skipped the S8 to wait for the Note8?

Little disappointing so far for me.. The more info that comes out the more disappointed I am. Its looking like no under the surface finger print scanner..There was rumours it would be a Snapdragon 836 which is a higher clocked 835...but looks like that's not going to be true. Bigger price... only a 3300ma Battery.

6GB of ram and Dual cameras seem to be the only change from what I can see and I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually only 4GB of ram.
